On April 30th, Hong Kong experienced a record thunderstorm, with over 900 lightning in the sky.
For April 30th and May 1st was scheduled concert by Popular Taiwan rock band Mayday in
Central Harbourfront Event Space: this place is an open area for singing and dancing performances, but sometimes it is free and sometimes needs to be charged.
However, the first day was cancelled because of the heavy rain and the thunderstorm, and they consider the audience's safety. Still, even though the weather was so bad that day, the band fans agglomerated that place wearing ponchos plastic to cover from the rain; it was impressive to see so many people wearing those rain covers with the name of the band on it.
The May 1st concert was postponed to next Tuesday, the 9th, because some of the LED decorations caught on fire, maybe because the heavy rain the day before damaged those types of equipment.
The sad thing about this event is that thousands of tourist fans from mainland China won’t be able to see this band again because their itinerary was scheduled for those two days, and they need to go back to their places. I have seen many fans in tears about this on TV news, and I am not sure how they will compensate them.

Finally, there was also another event scheduled on May 1st, the fireworks on Victoria Harbour, which almost were cancelled too because of the weather, but this continued as usual even though the sky was dark. It was not clear to see the fireworks display I had just watched on TV, and I was lucky I wasn’t there; otherwise, I would feel disappointed.
