June is the month of The Dragon Boat Festival, and this year, I went to the Shatin district to watch the dragon boat races.
To arrive in Shatin, take the metro, get off at Shatin station and go toward the Shatin River. However, the actual name of the river is Shing Mun River.
The riverside pedestrian road is a little bit narrow, and when there is this kind of event, it is almost impossible to move, and some people need to jump the fence and take the cycle road.
The boat races started at 8:00 am until 1:00 pm. However, I couldn’t stay until the end because of the hot weather; even when I used the electric fan to cool down, it still felt hot.
You can watch dragon boat races in many places around Hong Kong, but the biggest one is at Stanley Beach. It is quite far away, but many years ago, I had the chance to go there, and it was exciting to see it, mainly because the races are in the open sea.
Apart from the dragon boat races, people eat glutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves with pork and dried egg yolk and steamed for a few hours; I love this food because of the flavour.

Oh, how fun and exciting that must be! And you took the photos so well, @georgehive
Thanks for your positive comment @bloghound; indeed, the dragon boat festival is inspiring because it requires practice and lots of energy for the competition.
