Today was my elder son’s entrance exam day. Although it didn’t snow, it was an extremely cold day.
To get him accustomed to taking exams, I had him take entrance exams for a private junior high school near our home starting last Saturday. Since the exam fee allows multiple attempts, we decided he would take all the exams that fit his schedule. This school offers a scholarship program where, if he achieves a certain accuracy rate on the exam, the admission and tuition fees are waived.
I was thinking that if he did not get into his first choice school, it might not be a bad idea to send him to that private junior high school if he could take advantage of the scholarship program, but...hmmm.... I guess it is still difficult. So far he has taken the entrance exam three times, but all of them were just regular acceptances. After confirming the result, I am directed to the payment page for the entrance fee 😭One more chance on this Friday, but at this rate, I don't think there is much hope for him.
My husband accompanied our son to the exam site today. After they got back, he told me that our elder son parked his bicycle in the bike stop at the “77” cycle stand as soon as he arrived at the bike parking lot near the station 😂 When I took real estate qualifications exam a few years ago, I parked my bicycle at “77” in the same bicycle parking lot. It was for good luck. I subsequently passed that exam without incident. My son must have remembered me bragging about “77”.
It was a good thing that my husband accompanied him instead of me. It is because the train was apparently delayed significantly due to the commuter rush as well as caring for a person who had suddenly fallen ill. They said the train only proceeded at a snail's pace, making numerous stops, and even though they left the house with quite a bit of time to spare, they arrived at the venue 15 minutes before the registration closing time. I am extremely directionally challenged, so if it had been me who had accompanied him, he might not have made it in time for the start of the exam!
Well, after I saw them off, I decided to go grocery shopping. I heard that using sugar made from sugar beet instead of white sugar is good for one's health, so I went to buy it. Also, my elder son loves curry rice, so I decided to make that for dinner as a way of rewarding him for his efforts.
The exam must have been very difficult, and my son might come home depressed because he couldn't solve the test at all... If so, I would encourage him without being too deliberate... I was waiting for him, thinking this and that, but there was no need to worry about it. My son came into the house with a little leap of joy from the sense of freedom he felt after the exam, and I was relieved.
He originally wanted to go to school as soon as he got back from the entrance exam today, but I prevented him from doing so and gave him the day off (because I thought he would come home more exhausted), but I thought I should have let him go if he was in such an energetic mood. He also had a swimming lesson scheduled for this evening, and I suggested that he turn around and go another day, but he said, “No, I'm going" and then he got on the school bus with great excitement.
Hmmmm…he may be a much tougher guy than I thought.

Love the pictures from inside the supermarket! What chain is that?
!LUV
It's a supermarket called Meat Hanamasa. They deal in commercial size meat, fish, and seasonings. There were many people in that corner, so I did not take a picture.

Hi, @go-kyo, I have a question after reading the post, did your son pass the exam? On the other hand I liked reading how your son coped with the rest of the day after the exam.
Best regards
My son passed the exam he took just for practice.
However, we still don't know the result of the school he actually wants to enter🤓
