flower power: March 18 2024

in Actifit9 months ago (edited)

i went out to buy eggs for dinner and i happened to pass by this tree filled with huge white flowers. no leaves, all flowers just like the famous sakura trees in bloom. unlike the sakura tree though, this one is just a small tree, around 2 meters tall probably. sakura trees are usually towering with wide spreading branches. but what it lacked in height it compensated in flower size. just look at those petals. nature is indeed fair. just like in humans, some are short but pretty, and some are pretty but forgetful. nature has its way of levelling out the playing field.

flowers have started to bloom around our area indeed. is it spring? nah, i don't think so. we are still at that weird transition period between winter and spring. the wind was also very strong, another sign that spring is coming according to my housemate. whether this sign is true or not, i do not know.

oh! and i heard of how great their snowboard experience was. the snow was a bit hard but still easy to navigate, they said. and the board straps were "step on", automatic straps. no more tightening required. it would have been good to try them on but there is always a next time. at least our "guinea pigs" friends have reported favorably.

that night, we finally went back to the gym after two days of rest. i did not go anywhere during those two days, i could barely move. my legs still hurt a bit but tolerable this time. so we did some back routines.

pull ups (9 x 12)
barbell bent-over row (65kg x 3 x 12)
shrugs (50kg x 3 x 20)
chest supported bumbbell row (35kg x 3 x 12)
single arm seated row (36kg x 3 x 12 per arm)
a set each of the following with no rest between sets

  • face pull (18kg x 3 x 12)
  • straight arm pulldown (20kg x 3 x 12)

reverse fly (32kg x 3 x 12)
lat pulldown (50kg x 3 x 12)

to satisfy my broken ego, i did extras. from 60, we lifted 65kg for bent over row. from 12, i did 20 per set of shrugs. from 32, i increased our single arm row weight to 36kg. good thing that we somehow managed. it was tiring but a good kind of tired.

as we were heading out, i was surprised by this message board in our local gym. they really pull all their creative juices to come up with some activities each time. and this time, they drew a sakura tree and i assume that they will ask people to write down messages in sakura like cards and stick them to this tree. this tree will be in full bloom soon. i suppose messages of strength will be posted, i don't know. let us see. if i were to write something, which goals should i write? some say that to write your goals is about halfway of accomplishing them. or did it say that way? i might just be making this up but who knows if that might help.

it is sakura season indeed. spring is finally here!

may we all be as fresh as new flowers in bloom!
as always, AMPING KANUNAY!

yabai i don't have any idea of the sets you did except pull ups! teach me next time when we see each other what these are. 😅

sure sure no probs

Wow, the blooming tree is beautiful 😍

and it is just small.i don't think it smells good though

I've never seen a tree like that before.
I would like to go to the gym, but can't seem to make myself go. I need help.
I have been walking but I do not have a pedometer. I plan to get one in the very near future. I haven't been walking in a few days, but my walking buddy should be back next week. I fell, hurt my shoulder and got a big bruise on my hip yesterday, but I should be able to walk without a problem.

it is best to go to the gym with a buddy if it is your first time.get healed first for safety though.
