wednesday office ordeal : March 5 2025

in Actifit21 hours ago (edited)

since monday, this nightwalker (and sometimes daywalker) has been going to the physical office. it was a very tiring experience, one i have long forgotten ever since i started working from home. the comforts of working from home is just so huge, no wonder people around the globe clamor for this type of work.

for the past week, i had to wake up at least 2 hours earlier than usual, wade through the endless streams of people in stations and trains, walk at least a kilometer of foot traffic. i wonder how i managed to do this all in the past without getting stressed? not to mention the fact that you will now be on face to face with your co-workers and bosses.

at least this office is near some waters, and waters help with stress, i think. a reclaimed area to be exact, this place is quite near the new fish market in tokyo. but just take a look at these paddlers, i'm not sure if these waters are clean although i have occasionally seen large birds take a break on the banks. it is still a scary thought to fall in such unsure waters.

it was drizzling this wednesday, but this is better compared to what happened the night before. tokyo finally had the first snow fall of the year, it was enough to drop the temperatures down to a few degrees more. (on second thought, i think it snowed because the temperature dropped.) it would be a lot more difficult to walk on snow if that persisted till morning. but it would be cool to see this art installation with snowy bits, i suppose.

i can't show you what is inside, security protocols. but i can show you what is inside the next door building. oops... that garden sure looked interesting from above. this was taken during a snack break at the building pantry.

i can probbaly show you this robot as well! this looked like a guide robot, but i have not interacted with it. it looked more like a rocket, or something else. this is a new addition for sure, it was not here two years ago when i was still roaming these empty lobby during the pandemic days.

and this is how our office building looks. i still remembered one night when all the lights outside had a problem and it was pitch black, i was walking around here and unfortunately stumbled in front of a stone. i remembered how hurt i was but no one was around and it was dark. i stood up on my own, walked a bit further toward the light at the road bend, and saw my pants ruined. i was wearing skinny jeans then so i could not really see the damage to my flesh. 30 minutes after i reached home, i finally saw the wounds on my shin. it was one of the worst accidents, i still had the scars to this day.

this was the same river with the paddlers. nothing to see here but the glow of the rain clouds. it was a good 15 minute walk from the office. i think that is one of the very few "pros" of this ordeal, i get to walk from early in the morning.

and that river earlier connects to this tunnel which leads to the station entrance. i really don't know how i managed to do all of these in the past. i guess i just did because there was no other choice. but now that choices have opened, i just couldn't see myself continue doing this for months. i therefore conclude that i am more suited at the home.

as always, AMPING KANUNAY!

Interesting robot my friend!😊
Are you back to in person working all week long?

The struggle of commuting after getting used to WFH is real. At least the views and random discoveries (like that robot!) add a bit of adventure to the ordeal.
