Making a Come-back: April 5 2025

in Actifit6 days ago

So, March was completely out for walking, posting, etc. I came down with something awful on March 3rd that resulted in a hospital stay from March 12-19 (coincidentally the exact dates I was actually supposed to be on a fun tropical vacation), and then I spent the rest of the month recovering.

It turned out that I had Legionnaires disease, which is a rather rare bacterial infection that leads to life threatening pneumonia. So, yeah, I ended up requiring oxygen and spent part of that hospital week in the intensive care unit.

Here it is the 5th of April, and I am finally feeling like myself again!

For weeks I was not strong enough to walk, except around the house. Then I worked up to 1/3 of a mile, then a full mile. And now I can actually take my dog to our favorite park and do our usual extensive hike!

It has been a wild ride. And now it’s good to be back!

As you can see, it is still winter brown here. We will start to see some new green growth emerging in the coming weeks.

Thanks for reading.

Oh wow ! So sorry you were sick. Glad to see that you are back up to speed.

Thank you for the kind wishes, @jacey.boldart!

Phew, that's sounds scary! I had thought I hadn't seen your posts for a bit, so it is good to see you back and up and out!

Thank you, @shanibeer! Yes, it was indeed scary, and it’s very good to be almost fully recovered

Well done for getting back to walking again, at least summer is on the way. Fresh air and sunshine is the best medicine after such an illness!Gosh @jayna, that sounds awful, thank goodness you made a full recovery! It must have been a frightening experience, especially battling to breathe. I wonder how you picked it up?

I was battling a nasty viral infection, got bronchitis, anti-viral meds etc etc, but I believe the chest physio stopped it from turning into pneumonia. Scary, lasted just over a month, swinging from feeling better one day then sick again.

Take care, I hope you still get to that holiday!

Oh my gosh, @lizelle, so glad we are both recovering from those illnesses! It is shocking how long those respiratory illnesses can hang on! Thank goodness for modern medicine!

I don’t think I will ever know how I got legionnaires! It chose me randomly!

Respiratory illnesses are very scary, I don't know how people with COPD cope; they are very brave indeed!
Thank goodness for modern medicine indeed! I prefer trying natural remedies, good for minor ailments and for boosting immunity, but for sure cannot fight those nasty bugs.
Take good care of yourself, @jayna.

It’s so (very, very) good to see you out and about😁 You really scared us all, my dearest, dear! Thank God you’re in recovery mode❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😀😁😀😁😃😃

Thank you, @itsostylish! It’s so great to be back!!
