Yesterday I said today's post was going to be dam good. Well, here's a
Good Dam Post
Yesterday was like any other morning. The kids ordered their usual breakfast. Their mother was still sleeping so yours truly was in the kitchen.
Oh, before that i took the dogs out to go to the bathroom. They did.
After breakfast we headed up to the pool where we are staying to relax for a bit. Then we headed on our journey.
15 Miles North to the
Stonewall Jackson Dam
A little history from the ACOE Website
Factoid: Named for Thomas Jonathan Stonewall Jackson, a famous general in the Confederate Army during the Civil War, who was born on January 21, 1824, in nearby Clarksburg, West Virginia.
ACOE Website Further research also shows it's a flood mitigation project for Pittsburgh. Ewww, Go Browns
What a really nice facility. They had some activities for the kids and some information about the area wildlife and types of recreational & conservation initiatives being done.
Had some skulls
and stuffed animals to look at. They even gave the kids goodie bags with crayons, books, and a whistle.
The top of the dam was open for a couple more hours so we headed up. Obviously you can't walk out too far on the dam thing but
You got a good view
Of both sides
They also had some kiddie sand cranes, binoculars on stands, benches, tables, and a professional Cornhole set up with poured concrete. I didn't take a picture because my phone was overheated. I lost the game too. Complete bullshit. We let our youngest stand too close to the boards. I told her it's not happening next time...
Next Up Golf Carts
We rented golf carts from a golf course and got to tool around the course clubless. My favorite way to tool around golf courses.
Quite a view from the top of the hill.
Got the carts
And Rolled out to see the course
Came home, had a good dinner, played tennis, and sat out on the patio at night.
Well, was it a Dam Good Post or a Good Dam Post?
Cheers until tomorrow.
