Hello everyone,
we had a visitor from Bavaria over Easter. The weather was fine, so we were able to show our guest that you can also go on beautiful hiking tours in East Westphalia.
We opted for the Patensteig trail in the beautiful Extertal valley.

über Ostern hatten wir Besuch aus Bayern. Das Wetter spielte mit, und so haben wir unserem Gast zeigen können, dass man auch in Ostwestfalen schöne Wandertouren unternehmen kann.
Wir entschieden uns für den Patensteig im schönen Extertal.
The Patensteig is a varied and lovingly maintained hiking trail.
Colorful painted signposts guide us through the terrain.
Der Patensteig ist ein abwechslungsreicher und sehr liebevoll gepflegter Wanderweg.
Bunte bemalte Wegweiser führen uns durch das Gelände.
Right at the start of the route, there was the option of scrambling up a fairly steep alpine trail. However, we stayed on the main path.
Ziemlich zu Beginn der Strecke gab es die Möglichkeit, auf einen recht steilen Alpinsteig zu kraxeln. Wir blieben jedoch auf dem Hauptweg.
The bravest of our small hiking group were able to prove themselves on balancing trees over a small stream. Fortunately, nobody ended up in the water ;)
Die Mutigen unserer kleinen Wandertruppe konnten sich an Balancierbäumen über einen kleinen Bach beweisen. Es ist glücklicherweise niemand im Wasser gelandet ;)
The delicate green of the fresh leaves looked so magical, we listened to the birds singing and enjoyed the peaceful and spring-scented nature.
Das zarte Grün der frischen Blätter sah so zauberhaft aus, wir lauschtem dem Singen der Vögel und genossen die friedliche und nach Frühling duftende Natur.
Getting lost is really out of the question here ;)
Verlaufen ist hier wirklich ausgeschlossen ;)
In many places there are information boards about historical events as well as legends and myths of the region.
An vielen Stellen gibt es Infotafeln zu historischen Ereignissen und auch Sagen und Mythen der Region.
At this beautifully designed self-service farm store, you could buy all kinds of flowers and small decorative items.
An diesen hübsch gestalteten Selbstbedienungs Hofladen gab es allerlei Blümchen und kleine Deko Gegenstände zu erwerben.
Once we had completed the fantastic route through the forest, we continued through wonderfully fragrant rapeseed fields. I could hardly get enough of the seas of yellow flowers.
Nachdem wir die tolle Route durch den Wald hinter uns gebracht haben, ging es weiter durch wunderbar duftende Rapsfelder. Ich konnte mich an den gelben Blütenmeeren kaum satt sehen.
The path also led directly past a wind turbine. We were amazed at how quiet they are when you stand right underneath them.
Der Weg führte auch direkt an einem Windrad vorbei. Wir waren erstaunt, wie leise diese doch sind, wenn man direkt darunter steht.
The end of the hike led us back into the forest. The Patensteig is really very varied and therefore also very popular with children. You can always discover something new.
Das Ende der Wanderung führte uns wieder in den Wald hinein. Der Patensteig ist wirklich sehr abwechslungsreich und dadurch auch bei Kindern sehr beliebt. Man kann immer wieder Neues entdecken.
After the hike, we fortified ourselves with some grilled vegetables and meat. A worthy end to this great day ;)
Nach der Wanderung haben wir uns mit etwas gegrilltem Gemüse und Fleisch gestärkt. Ein würdiger Abschluss dieses tollen Tages ;)
