Hazem and I decided to escape the noise of the world for a day and venture off just the two of us on a little adventure into the heart of nature. No plans, no crowd, just love and mountains. Our destination? The wild, breathtaking trails of Zaghouan.
I woke up at 6:30 AM, excitement bubbling inside me like a secret waiting to be lived. I shot Hazem a quick message to see if he was up, then got ready and made my way to the louage station. My ride took off around 8:05. On the way, I let the rhythm of the Quran fill the space around me Surat Al-Waqiâa and Ya-Sin my go-to companions for long solo rides. There's something about their verses that calms the soul and reminds me of who I am.
When I arrived, Hazem was already there, eyes bright with that mischievous spark I know so well. "Iâm taking you to a place weâve never been before," he said with a grin. And just like that, the adventure began.
The path we followed was something out of a dream green, winding, wild. I kept stopping every few steps to soak it in, snapping pictures that barely captured its magic. Hazem, of course, couldnât resist turning the camera on me, stealing candid shots as I wandered ahead.
Eventually, we reached our climbing spot. He pulled out the gear, and we geared up for the climb. It was just us, the mountain, and the sky. Each of us took turns climbing while the other secured the rope from below. It was my first real taste of this kind of challenge together, and honestly? I loved it. It pushed me, thrilled me, and made me feel alive in a way only nature can.
After conquering two climbing routes, hunger started creeping in. We found a spot that looked like it had been designed by the universe itself just for us. We sat down, pulled out our food, and shared a meal with a view Iâll never forget. The landscape stretched endlessly before us, and for a moment, time froze. We sat in silence, arms wrapped around each other, the wind whispering stories only lovers understand.
It was the first time I felt that kind of deep, warm feeling. That realization that you're sharing a moment youâll carry in your heart forever with someone you truly love.
Once we had our fill of food and calm, we headed back to finish our activity. By 1 PM, we were ready to call it a day and wandered into a cozy café. As always, we played a couple of chess games. And yes he won, again. Not exactly surprisin .
Suddenly, the sky opened up and rain started pouring. Hazem looked at me and said, âAs soon as it eases up a bit, weâll have to go so I can catch my bus.â But it didnât ease up. So we ran into the rain anywayâlaughing, soaked, and completely unbothered by it all. Thankfully, I had on the waterproof sneakers Hazem got me. He, on the other hand, wasn't so lucky completely drenched. It was adorable and hilarious all at once.
We wandered a little through the old town, hand in hand, wet clothes clinging to us, smiles wider than ever. Eventually, we made it to the station, and he bought my ticket. I got home around 4:15 PM tired, happy, heart full.
That day wasnât just a hike. It was a chapter. A memory painted in mountain greens, raindrops, laughter, and love. A day Iâll carry with me always.
Because when youâre with your soulmate your partner in spirit, mind, and heart every moment feels like magic.
