Another successful hike on our #ozarklife trail for @nomaddreamer and me.
We’ve been isolating in separate rooms; he and both of our kiddos have all tested positive for Covid-19 after I caught it, despite efforts of sanitizing, masking, and isolating. I have finally cleared a negative test, so I’m simply trying to care for them all and stay clear of reinfection.
My life has consisted of Lysol, making batch after batch of chicken soup, and constantly washing my hands. I’m still winded and easily fatigued, but all of my other symptoms are gone.
We both had enough energy today to #gotakeahike, so out to the forest we went while the kiddos (both older, one is 20 and one is 14) took naps. We kept our distance from each other, but shared the forest.
I was the only one in our family that Covid really hit hard with symptoms. Though our 14 yr old is immune-compromised, he was quickly prescribed Paxlovid and has thankfully dodged symptoms.
With luck and Lysol, our household should finally be cleared within the next week. 🤞
Wildflowers are all over, I can never get enough of them. Tiny ones that my father would call weeds, I call beautiful!
The spring storms have made waterfalls throughout the forest.
@nomaddreamer and I both had to stop to catch our breath more than we’re used to. With time we’ll be back to jogging.
I spied a giant Pileated Woodpecker bringing food to his mate in their nest. Hard to tell from this shot, but this guy was around 18” long. He flew off laughing and they really do sound like Woody Woodpecker. Thankfully this nest is in a memorable spot, right next to a bridge, so I’ll keep my eye out for him again!

😄 Our hiking friend has been sick for several days, and wanted to hike with @elizabethbit and myself today....... 10K @actifit steps and still recovering..........Awesome!
No, you certainly don't want it!! If you're prone to symptoms like me, it's mighty nasty, and if you're not, it's still a giant pain to deal with.
We're going on almost a month of trying to evict it from our household, a perfect storm of central heat and a shared bathroom.
In the year that we've been hiking this trail, we've seen a total of maybe 5 other people, so we feel safe that we won't run into anyone. We haven't!
