Today @nomaddreamer and I woke up early to head to the Big City.
I’ve decided to take the fairly massive step of returning to school to pursue my BA in American Sign Language Interpreting, so we went on a walking tour of the University I’m applying to.
Everything looks good there, and this fall will be very different for our family! Mid-forties, one almost-grown and three fully adult children, and I’m heading back to college.
After touring the University, @nomaddreamer and I had a fantastically long and relaxing lunch complete with beer flights. It’s been awhile since I was able to enjoy great beer from taps!
To walk off our lunch (and frankly, our beer) we walked along the River. There’s a great walking path with tons of sculptures.
After a lovely tour, lunch, and walking date, we decided to take the long route back home to our tiny part of the Ozarks.
We got incredibly lucky and had just missed an incredibly strong storm cell; we basically skirted it the whole way home.
I didn’t get pics from the damage, as it was pretty stressful driving at the time, but on the way we had to stop and wait for power lines to be cleared from the road, drove over 1/2’ deep debris from leaves and branches covering entire parts of the road, saw baseball sized hail on the sides of the road, and had patches of mist so thick that we couldn’t see the front of our own car through a lot of it.
All in all, the day was quite an adventure for us. One of the best days I’ve had in quite awhile! 🙌

I totally spaced talking about the crazy weather change from beautiful on the river to terrifying on the road. Definitely the biggest hail I have ever seen!
