Enjoying the beauty of nature on a holiday weekday - My Actifit Report Card: June 5 2024

in Actifit9 months ago

Hi my loving Actifiters,

How are you guys? I hope you are having a great week. By thinking that any week starting from Sunday will be optimistic for us, we can carry out work efficiently by the end of that week. The best examples for that can be found around us. In the same way, I prepared well on Monday, and by today, which is Wednesday, several productive activities have been completed on my part. Although we are all busy with work and personal activities, we should also pay attention to our physical health. And if you don't take time to relax, there is a risk of getting sick.

Today, which was Wednesday morning, I had a chance to walk in a village that showcases the beauty of nature. These days, heavy rains are falling in many parts of Sri Lanka, and many parts are flooded. Meanwhile, several human lives have been lost. Fortunately, there was no such danger to our living area. Although it has been raining in our area for the past three days, there has been no flood or landslide. This morning, without rain, I walked in a village with a small river with the focus of attaining peace of mind.

Due to the rain, the color of the water has also turned muddy. But I preferred to sit on the green ground near the river because it gives me peace of mind. I felt as if I had walked into another world when I thought about it. People thought that the houses that were built on the other side of the river would lead a happy life, but that is not the case because of the danger of flooding and the fact that they are located far away from the city. One has to travel a long distance to buy an emergency item or go to a hospital in case of illness. But they are lucky to see the beauty of nature.

About five decades ago, Sri Lanka was self-sufficient in agriculture. The elders say that green environments were seen everywhere at that time. With the introduction of the open economy to the country, industrialization increased and the trees were destroyed and industries were built, so the self-sufficiency gradually began to disappear. It is unfortunate that the villages are being industrialized because the beautiful nature is being destroyed.

The irrigation station that stores the water of the gin river was built near the village where I walked. So even remote villages may have industries and other economical centers.

After that, I entered a lagoon area with mangroves, an area of high biodiversity value. By that time, the area was a little far away. But there was no chance of rain. The lagoon associated with the mangrove ecosystem was recently dug and widened to drain the water quickly. This decision has been taken to reduce possible flood damage during heavy rains. Any action that does not harm the environment can be approved.

After all the activities were over, I decided to go to a nearby temple to perform religious activities. It was my hope that there would be no danger especially to the people who were damaged by the flood. Even though the Vesak festival was over, Vesak lanterns could still be seen around the temple. The same Vesak lanterns may also be kept for the Poson Festival held on the twenty-first of this month. I have experienced that after completing everything successfully, going to a temple and worshiping will remove all difficulties.
