Normally on Saturdays I do mountains hikes. Today however I opted for a long hike… starting where I live. We have here a 125km trail that connect 10 cities and towns but does so in such a way that long stretches go via green areas.
Walking on asphalt is inevitable but we had today 3 lakes, 2 ponds, 2 large parks, a forest and a meadow on our route.
The plan was for 30km. We knew however that about 2-3pm the weather would break down. We decided to aim for 2/3 (which led to a convenient public transport place) and then see how the weather developed.
Precisely at 2pm we reached our 2/3 target and stopped for ice cream. Sunny, 20° C. Perfection. However, no sooner had we sat down to consume the ice cream than cold wind came and brought clouds. No rain yet. We decided to go for the rest of the trail.
About half way through, we had to pass across a small forest. And the weather went berserk. Out of nowhere very strong wind and a downpour of rain hit us. Getting wet is ok, but tree branches started flung around us. One almost hit me. So we decided to evacuate to a nearby neighbourhood and wait it over at a bus stop (fortunately with a booth).
When I finished the trail, I had 44k steps. Being that close to 50k, I decided to go for it and did! This I have joined the elite „Club 50” of the current @poliac season. #AliveAndThriving!
