people go to either of two extremes:
- don't care at and exploit the Earth
- bend to eco-terror which mandates that trucks go thru city center, 'cause building a ring will harm some unique frog
This is why I like so much the local authorities solved the dilemma. If beavers were given total freedom, they would flood nearby houses and roads. If humans were not to care, we would lose a precious place for rest and outdoor activities.
The park is partially a typical city park - with gravel paths, ice cream, benches, fountain etc. But its part that touches the river, is left to nature (well, not entirely - there's some maintenance of the river banks (earthworks) and if trees pose danger to people on foot or cycling path, the trees are removed.
