Chipotle style dinner at home!

A lot of you have saw me talking about my Blackstone grill. Today the weather was decent, so we decided to break out the griddle and have a Chipotle style meal at home. Chipotle is a quick service restaurant in the US known for serving custom made burritos. It's good, but it can get expensive. So whenever we get a chance, we like to recreate the same thing at home.

We started by seasoning the chicken and marinading the steak. The steak was a late addition to the menu. I would have liked to marinade it longer, but we only had a couple of hours until we had to put it on. We also cut up all of the vegetables, which were the first thing we started to cook.

I love cooking vegetables on the Blackstone. As soon as you put them on, the aroma is just amazing. The onions and the peppers all mix together and it really gets your tastebuds going.

After giving the vegetables a little bit of a head start, I put on the chicken. When you cook on the griddle, there's a lot of steam because you're cooking a lot of food.

It wasn't long before it was all done and ready to be scooped up into the serving tray.

Maybe I should say shoveled instead of scooped. This was a recent addition to my utensils. It's an actual shovel! And it came in really handy. It worked really well.

After I finished scooping everything up, I started on the steak. I knew it wouldn't take as long to cook so I cooked it last.

Well, almost last. My daughter wanted a quesadilla so I started cooking that in the spot next to it. The case of the actually came out pretty well too.

I cut the steak while cooking it so that it would finish faster and get more seasoning on the smaller pieces. Once that was done, it was time to get ready to eat.

We had bought some of the large tortillas from Chipotle. This is the only thing that you can't really recreate. Their tortillas actually are actually pretty good and they only cost 50 cents a piece when you just buy them by themselves. All in all, it was a great meal.

I finished the day with over 10,000 steps. I also managed to get 28 active minutes and 26 flights of stairs. It was all actual stairs at this time unlike yesterday where it was mostly hills. I did another stair workout. I didn't quite meet my calorie intake goal, but it was pretty close. I'm finding it hard to stay under on days where I don't have a regimented work schedule.

Continuing with the theme: Each night I post the song that was playing as I ended the workout and use that as the title for the post for that day. Today's song actually came at the beginning of the workout, but I thought it was kind of coincidental. So I decided to use that instead. Yesterday the song was Believe by Eminem, but today the song was Believe by Disturbed. I don't think the two songs could be more different. One is an inspirational rap song and the other is a sort of chastisement about religion, I think. Anyway, I thought it was a funny coincidence.

Well, that's it for today. Tomorrow my goal is 10,000 steps and it's 1800 calories.
