Man, I can't wait till I'm clear to lift weights again. A lot of people think that cardio is the best way to lose weight, and for some people it is, but I think that weightlifting is something that is often overlooked. I think it comes from not being able to easily determine how many calories you burn in a weightlifting workout. A formula does exist, and I even built a calculator that will figure it out for you, but you should only count active minutes. This can be tricky with weightlifting because you usually rest between sets. Cardio, on the other hand, is pretty easy to measure as it is usually done in a continuous fashion.
Anyway, I didn't lift today, but I wish I would have been able to. Instead, I was relegated to my same old stair workout that I've been doing.
I finished the day with over 12,000 calories and 30 flights of stairs. I also had 25 active minutes but I think that my Fitbit was malfunctioning because I was sweating during my stair workout and I did that for over an hour, with a little bit of rest in between. So I think I should have had more than that. I also came in under my 1800 library limit.
Continuing with the theme: Each night I post the song that was playing as I ended the workout and use that as the title for the post for that day. Today's song was Back in the Day by the artist Ahmad. This is one of those feel-good songs. While listening to it, you can't help but think back to your childhood and reminisce about how it was. It brings a smile to my face.
Tomorrow my goal is 10,000 steps and 1600 calories.
