Monday is the best day of the week to try to push myself to set a new record time for my usual 5 km runs. I took Sunday off to rest my legs and decided to try to beat my personal best I had achieved last Tuesday.
Started with a faster pace than usual and just kept pushing as hard as possible, there was a lot of foot traffic because of the beautiful weather so that slowed me down a little but I managed to compensate whenever I had the space to pick up the pace.
Ended up shaving off 4 seconds per kilometre, it’s not a lot but slow increments in pace every week keeps me a lot more motivated. Whenever I set a new personal best I always feel like I had a little bit more in the tank, I’m not giving 100% so I know there’s room for improvement.
I’m aiming to drop my pace bellow 5’30’’/KM next Monday! All I need to do take 25 seconds off my total running time.
