The first snowflakes kissed my face this morning, a sharp reminder of just how close winter is. The wind, relentless and restless, pushed me along on a brisk morning walk that doubled as a quick grocery run. The final stairwell of the once towering desulfurization plant stood defiant, but even its days are numbered, soon, it too would crumble into memory, leaving behind nothing but stories. Later, the sun made a shy appearance. After a stretch of grueling workdays, I let myself sink into the quiet comfort of an unhurried afternoon, savoring the stillness like a warm drink on a frosty day.
