The morning greeted me with an officially crisp and gloriously clear winter chill, a refreshing break from the damp fog that had lingered for days. Minus two degrees Celsius, perfect for a brisk bike ride to Volkspark Jungfernheide. The air nipped but felt alive, sharpening my senses as I set off to walk a big loop through the park. Midway, I paused at the small lake, meditating and practicing deep breathing, eyes fixed eastward on the water tower. On the way back to my bike, I spotted a magnificent tinder bracket fungus, perched at head height, ideal for a photo series. Its earthy curves seemed sculpted by the season, and the water tower in the background gave the image depth, like a story waiting to unfold. The find reminded me it’s long overdue to write another blog post about fungi, with photos showcasing their quiet, intricate beauty. Returning home, the cold outside made the warmth of a hot cup of tea twice as satisfying. There's something about starting the day this way, balancing movement, mindfulness, and discovery, that keeps the mind as clear as the frost-coated grass.
