Monday ☀️ 8655
The morning was still tired, the air icy, but at least it was dry. There was hardly any wind, just the crunching of shoes on the frozen ground. The path took me to Luiseninsel, as it often does, a short walk to wake me up. But one was even less awake than me: a big bird, a grey heron was sitting on its branch, fluffed up like a cozy winter coat, obviously not ready to greet the day. I couldn't blame him. But as soon as the round was over, the best part came: the contrast between the freezing cold and steaming hot coffee. That first sip that drives the cold out of your fingers, simply wonderful.
Der Morgen war noch müde, die Luft eisig, aber immerhin trocken. Kaum Wind, nur das Knirschen der Schuhe auf dem gefrorenen Boden. Der Weg führte mich wie schon oft zur Luiseninsel, eine kurze Runde zum Wachwerden. Doch einer war noch weniger wach als ich: Ein großer Vogel, ein Graureiher saß auf seinem Ast, aufgeplustert wie ein gemütlicher Wintermantel, offenbar nicht bereit, den Tag zu begrüßen. Ich konnte es ihm nicht verübeln. Doch kaum war die Runde vorbei, kam das Beste: der Kontrast von klirrender Kälte zu dampfend heißem Kaffee. Dieser erste Schluck, der die Kälte aus den Fingern vertreibt, einfach herrlich.
