This is actually my first time using the application. Let's go and see what happened and where I went with Actifit for the first time.
Let's go! ❤️
I plan to run about 264 kilometers or 164.042 miles this 2021 and in order to reach that I should run at least 22km (cumulative) every month.
So far, I've accomplished my monthly running goals. I'd run 3km to 6km at least once a week to get the target distance per month. But aside from running short distances repeatedly week after week. I also would like to run another 21km this year. That's the end goal for this year. To do this, I've designed my goals in terms of distance to increase month after month. From 12km last June, 15km last July, and this month, I've set it at 18km.
Unfortunately, the weather in Cebu has been pretty rainy lately. It'd rain early in the morning or late in the afternoon, leaving me with no other choice but to stay at home and just do my home workouts.
Another bottleneck is that because it's a long run, I couldn't do it on a weekday. I have work which starts at 8 AM and there's a curfew from 10 PM to 5 AM.
Finally, today the weather's on my side and I was able to achieve my running goal! Wootwoot! 🎉🎉🎉
Now let me take you to Cebu City specifically in South Road Properties (SRP) and I hope you'll enjoy the view of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway which looks pretty early in the morning.
I had to sleep early last night for the nth attempt to finish my 18km goal this month. I checked the weather for today before going to bed last night and although the data showed it might rain, I still went to bed early because I know today's my big day.
I was up at 5 AM even before my alarm could start ringing. And as fast as I could I changed into my running clothes. It's always important for me to wear something comfortable especially this time I'm going for a long run.
I wasn't able to plan my running route because if I'd put all effort and it'll rain, it'll just break my heart. So I decided to start running and see where my feet will take me.
I used to run at Running Events before the pandemic happened and if there's one thing I really miss it's owning the entire road and running without having to worry of any vehicle running over me any minute. I got the feeling this morning once again. The roads are quiet and there's just peace in every land of my foot on the ground.
In a few minutes, I found myself at the Plaza Independencia. Then, I saw the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway, and it's calling me by my name. I gave in and told myself I'm taking the end-to-end SRP route this time again. I've run the same route but this time it's different since I'm starting from Plaza Independencia (last time, I started from Osmeña Blvd. then SM Seaside).
And on this note, I'll just leave you with all the wonderful photos I took earlier. I was questioning myself if I'd like to run or take pictures. Haha! I guess I love doing both at the same time. 🤣
I was passing by SM Seaside when I saw a fifty peso bill on the sidewalk so I bought a Gatorade in the nearest Shell gas station and enjoyed the cold drinks. Exactly what I needed!
This run feels like forever. Really. But the only thing I thought of the entire time was that I have to finish this if I want to run 21km this year. And look at the view, I don't know about you but a view like this makes me feel so alive and flying like I've drugged myself the night before (which I didn't) haha! 🤣
Halfway through the route and the heat of the sun started to affect my pace. Although I don't have a goal pace this morning, I always make sure I give my best, which I think I did. ❤️
And finally, after almost two hours under the scorching heat of the morning sun, I reached my destination and I finished my 18km Running Goal for August 2021.
And now back in the office, inspired to do more for the rest of the day! Before I end this post, let me remind everyone that there will always be challenges beyond our control, in my case, the weather, but when the time is right it's never too late to grab the opportunities to achieve your goals. If you still have goals for August, let's just say you still have a day and a half to finish them. Game? 😉
That's it for today! I hope you'll choose to get out of bed and do something your body will thank you for. We all deserve a holistically healthy life, the thing is we have to work for it. A healthy life will never chase us; it is our duty to chase it by all means.
Sunny National Heroes Day to all the Filipinos! ❤️
