Hello everyone! Pozdrav svima!
As I mentioned the other day, after a few centimeters of snow fell, the kids planned a weekend trip (without consulting us).
So, this morning, they surprised us by presenting their plan. They had decided we would go sledding and snowball fighting on a nearby mountain, without even considering whether there was any snow up there at all (since it’s been quite warm these past few days).
A quick online check revealed, to their delight (but not so much mine), that there is snow up there (not much, but enough for what we need).
My wife had to stay home watching over our youngest, as he was feeling a bit ill, so I was left alone with the four of them and a trip to the unknown. (I'm just being a bit melodramatic, I just didn't know how well it would all turn out).
So, we made a plan to drive to the cable car station, take the cable car up to the top of the mountain, and then scout the area to find the most suitable spot for sledding and snowball fights.
When we got there, there was a thick fog surrounding the area. I just hoped it would clear up when we got higher.
The fog added to the majestic atmosphere of ascending the mountain in the cable car.
When we finally rose above the fog, the view was magnificent. Normally, you can see the entire city from here, but this time, there was only a curtain of clouds in sight.
As is usually the case, when it's foggy in the city, the weather on the mountain is beautifully sunny. And that’s exactly how it was this time—sunny and (too) warm.
We finally reached the top, which is just a hundred meters from the start of the ski slope. There wasn’t much natural snow, but the snow cannons were working at full capacity, so it wasn’t noticeable on the slope.
Unfortunately, the snow groomers hadn’t done their job and were casually parked at the top of the slope, leaving it unprepared and unsuitable for sledding, let alone skiing.
However, my kids didn’t mind at all—they grabbed their little sleds and went down the slope. They sledded in a crowd until they were completely exhausted.
When they finally got tired, we went to find a secluded spot where they could roll around in the snow and make snow angels.
After that, we grabbed something to eat - a nice, hot bean stew — and then headed home. The kids were so tired they barely said a word on the way.
Of course, that changed the moment they walked through the house door, as they had to tell Mom every single detail about the "best day ever." ❤️
