Happy hump πͺ day, happy new year and a very warm welcome to my report. It is the middle of the week, I have had a great day and am about to share it including the trending stories that caught my eye π.
Definitely thank you for stopping by and let's get into it π¨.
So I started the day with the usual morning walk around the neighborhood. It was largely βοΈ cloudy and chilly. But the sunπshone through for a while later in the day
I didn't last long outside and after about 25 to 30 minutes, I was back indoors for the usual house chores including cooking. I had earlier passed through the market for some fruits and veggies.
Later, I settled down to some you tube, x and trending news from around the world.
My final walk was the sunset π walk this time around the neighbourhood and local park
So now let's look at what trended globally.
Gaza trending as Qatar and Egypt work hard to keep the ceasefire in Gaza alive. A Hamas delegation is on the way to Cairo Egypt.
This as Israel promises a return to war if Israeli hostages are not freed as per the deal this Saturdayπ. They say this time it will be a severe one, Trump adding that all hell will break looseπΏ.
Speaking of Trump, today he announced he had a 90 minute phone call with Russian president Putin regarding the war in Ukraine. He wants to end the bombing and deaths.
He later called Ukrainian president Zelensky.
Meanwhile, US defense secretary, was in Brussels discussing the Ukraine issue with European colleagues. Making it clear that Ukraine returning to pre 2014 borders will be unreasonableπ. Meaning Russia will get away with some Ukrainian land, probably not join NATO tooπΏ.
Then Canada trending as PM Trudeau, promised strong response to Trump tariffs, the latest on on steel. He also denounced Trump for wanting Canada as 51st state, saying it will never happenπΉ.
Finally, African Union foreign ministers are meeting in Addis, Ethiopia as they try to figure out how to stop the fighting in Congo. At least 3,000 have been killed and over 500,000 thousand people displaced in Eastern CongoπΏas the Congolese army fights off M23 rebels. Lets hope diplomacy will work to solve thisπ―.
