My yesterday activities at and around Keng Tung, a town in Eastern Shan State, Myanmar

Dear friends,

Yesterday, I rented a motor bike and went around some places near Keng Tung, a town in Eastern Shan State, Myanmar. The first place I visit was Dhart Zom Doi Kabar Aye Pagoda။ It is located on a mountain and the view from there is capturing. On the way, I found old houses with brick roofing tiles, rubber plantation, Tai style monasteries and pagodas, and harvest ed paddy plantations, paddy nursery plantation and other rural lives. Belows are some of the photos I have taken. I found that the art and style of the monasteries were not the same as those from Southern Shan State.

After that, I continued to another well known monastery which was not far. I passed by Akha village, in which houses were built with brick tiles. They looked beautiful to me. There was a steam flowing by the side of the monastery. And the monastery compound was build like on a Hintha bird barge.

Then, I continued to the monastery, where the architect of Tai Khun could be found. I could find many Buddha images but was not sure they were Tai Khun style or not. However, I could say that looked different from those in my region. And I found Buddha stories depicted with some paint art and some status not familiar to me.
After that, I went to the garden on the top of a hill , where there was a huge tree. The tree was said to be 250 years old and it is 218 ft tall. There is a cafe restaurant nearby, I had to pay entrance fee with which I could exchange some food or drink there. The garden there was also beautiful with blossoming plants.

Then, I visited a cafe on the road next to Nong Tong Lake to enjoy the evening scene there. With some everything sun light, the view was quite capturing.

And in the evening at 7, I went to Tai (Shan) new year festival. There, I realized that there were many ethnic people living around Keng Tung region. I found show rooms showcasing the lives of those ethnic peoples. Theirs were very interesting; so were their stage dances. Belows were some photos taken at the Shan New Year Festival.
