You may wanna try checking Enable Background Tracking in the settings. Plus, if you are using an Android device. Go to the app settings and allow it to always be running. Lastly, never close the app.

I've turned the background tracking on, and set it to always on, so the OS can't put it to sleep.
I vaguely remember having similar issues when I was using it back in 2019 and before, but can't remember whether I sorted out the bugs.
