Life is something so fragile, today we are here and tomorrow we do not know, nothing is written in stone when it comes to live or die and even if you spend your life exercising that is not a guarantee of a long life or prolonged health as we tend to believe, really are paradoxes that have no explanation.
In my last post I had commented that one of my gym mates was sick, last month she went to the doctor and underwent all the tests, finally the doctors did not want to take her case or send her treatment because they found cancer in advanced stage with metastasis throughout the body. Everything happened so fast, but for Teresa, may she rest in peace, it was surely long weeks as the pain became present and very strong, she ended up taking morphine capsules, a medicine that is a palliative to endure the pain when there is nothing else to do.
La vida es algo tan frágil, hoy estamos aquí y mañana no sabemos, nada está escrito en piedra cuando se trata de vivir o morir y aunque pases la vida haciendo ejercicio eso tampoco es garantía de una larga vida o una salud prolongada como solemos creer, realmente son paradojas que no tienen explicación.
En mi último post había comentado que una de las compañeras del gimnasio estaba enferma, en el mes pasado fue al médico se realizó todos los exámenes finalmente los médicos no quisieron asumir su caso ni mandarle tratamiento ya que le descubrieron cáncer en etapa avanzada con metástasis en todo el cuerpo. Todo sucedió tan rápido, pero para Teresa que en paz descanse seguro fueron largas semanas ya que el dolor se hizo presente y muy fuerte, que terminó tomando cápsulas de morfina, medicamento que es un paliativo para soportar el dolor cuando ya no hay nada más que hacer.
Although I had only known Teresa for a few months, we hit it off from the beginning, even she herself last October a few days after treating us confessed to me that she felt bad, that she was not sleeping and had pain in what I asked her where she did not know how to explain, and I told her to go to the doctor because it is not normal to feel pain. However she continued to attend the gym celebrating Halloween, her birthday dancing to the rhythm of the drum at the end of November and the last time she went to this space on December 16 at the farewell of the year and Christmas party, here it was her turn to give me the gift of the secret friend, in a beautiful bag she gave me some gym cloths that I love for what they represent.
January came and some joined the activities after the 15th, but Teresa did not return, she was taking her exams and the pain did not allow her to do anything. The gym group was activated in the collaboration of the expenses and little or much each one put a grain of sand, unfortunately Teresa passed away last week, but before leaving she could feel the love we had in the gym. Some people say that she had to be a good person because she did not suffer so long for that disease or put her family to seek resources where there are none.
Aunque solo tenía unos meses conociendo a Teresa, congeniamos desde el principio, incluso ella misma el pasado mes de octubre a días de tratarnos me confesó que se sentía mal, que no estaba durmiendo y que tenía dolor en lo que le pregunté a dondé no me supo explicar, y le dije que acudiera al médico ya que no es normal sentir dolor. Sin embargo ella seguía asistiendo al gimnasio celebrando Halloween, su cumpleaños bailando al ritmo del tambor a finales de noviembre y la última vez que fue a este espacio el 16 de diciembre en la despedida de año y fiesta de Navidad, aquí ella le correspondió entregarme el regalo del amigo secreto, en una hermosa bolsa me regaló unos paños de gimnasio que adoro por lo que representan.
Enero llegó y algunas se sumaron a las actividades después del 15, pero Teresa no regresó, se estaba haciendo sus exámenes y el dolor ya no le permitía nada. El grupo del gimnasio se activó en la colaboración de los gastos y poco o mucho cada uno puso un grano de arena, lamentablemente Teresa falleció la semana pasada, pero antes de irse pudo sentir el cariño que le teníamos en el gimnasio. Algunas personas dicen que ella tuvo que ser una buena persona porque no sufrió tanto tiempo por esa enfermedad ni puso a su familia a buscar recursos donde no los hay.
I was a little surprised that her close friends did not know about the pain she felt and they were also surprised that Teresa told me. Sometimes we tend to open up more with people we have just met so they won't judge us or just to get it off our chest. She was a young woman, she was 67 years old and actually looked strong, but her time came. The week of her death the activities at the gym stopped, especially the dancing, because no one felt like it and for the day of love and friendship better known in other countries as Valentine's Day we decided to get together and make a rosary and raise a prayer for her, those of us who are of the Catholic religion are used to pray rosaries to the deceased.
And as usual, after each activity, we took pictures to record the moment. That day Mrs. Teresa's husband and her eldest daughter were invited, they accompanied us and we recreated a heart as a souvenir, we also took pictures in the form of jokes with hearts and arrows, remembering with joy our friend, she was a very lively person.

Me sorprendió un poco que sus amigas cercanas no supieran de ese dolor que ella sentía y también se sorprendieron que Teresa me lo haya dicho. A veces solemos abrirnos más con las personas que acabamos de conocer para que no nos juzguen o simplemente para desahogarnos. Era una mujer joven, tenía 67 años y en realidad se veía fuerte, pero su tiempo llegó. La semana de su muerte las actividades en el gimnasio pararon, sobre todo las de baile, pues nadie tenía ganas de eso y para el dia de amor y la amistad mejor conocido en otros países como el dia de San Valentín decidimos reunirnos y hacer un rosario y elevar una oración para ella, las que somos de la religión católica acostumbramos a rezar rosarios a los difuntos.
Y como es costumbre, después de cada actividad, nos sacamos fotos para registrar el momento. Ese día asistieron invitados el esposo de la señora Teresa y su hija mayor, nos acompañaron y recreamos un corazón como recuerdo también nos sacamos fotos en forma de bromas con corazones y flechas, recordando con alegría a nuestra amiga era una persona muy animada.
