Dreams change as we age. My Actifit Report Card: January 16 2025

I was thinking today about how we all have dreams and not dreams as in sleeping and seeing the dreams but more along the lines of dreams of something that we want to happen or achieve in our future.

As I was thinking about it, I was also reflecting on how our dreams change over time.

For example, as children, we have dreams of becoming someone. If you had asked children during my time as a child in the Soviet Union, the majority would have answered that they would like to become a cosmonaut (astronaut).

Despite my early fascination with science fiction, I have never wanted to be an astronaut.

As a child, I wanted to be a forest ranger. Must be because of my love of nature and forests in particular.

But I have never became a forest ranger. I have studied in the School of Business and eventually chose an IT career.

Do I still want to become a forest ranger? No, our dreams change as we grow older or achieve them. I visited California as a senior in high school, and my dream was to come back to America. I came back to the US two years later, and that dream was achieved.

I started dreaming of buying my first home for my family in America.

A few years later, that dream also became a reality. After that I was dreaming of living on a lake. That dream took a bit longer to accomplish, but eventually, I achieved that dream as well.

I loved living on the lake, and the images in this post are from that time.

I was married for ten years, unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, that marriage fell apart. I was single for almost eleven years. During that time, I dreamed of building a new family, but it was surprisingly not easy to find a true partner. Once I found my current wife, it was one of the biggest dreams that I have achieved.

Things are never easy, and while I loved living on the lake to make the next dream work, I had to give up my previous dream of living on the lake. But let me tell you, I have zero regrets and would do it over and over again. And we are coming up on our five year marriage anniversary!

So what now, what is my next dream? As I am approaching forty nine years old I find myself thinking about less tangible dreams such as hoping for health in my family, happiness for our kids, happiness in our family and maybe financial independence at least to the extent that my wife doesn't have to work. I love my job, and I think I have at least ten more years that I wouldn't mind working there.

To make five to ten times on my crypto in the next altcoin bull market would be nice! But if that doesn't happen, I still would be very happy if my other dreams come true.

What are your dreams, and did they change over time?

I wanted to be a forest ranger. Must be because of my love of nature and forests in particular.

My father used to be a forest ranger so when I was a kid, I wanted to do something related to wildlife but it was just a child's dream. Yes, as we grow up, our life choices change. Life goes on even though we face difficulties at each and every step... Happy 5th Anniversary...

Thank you!

Happy fifth anniversary my friend, sounds like you have a wonderful family!!🤗👍😀

Thank you, it is coming up in a couple weeks 😀

I hope you and the Mrs. have a wonderful anniversary and do something special!!😍

Thank your for a reminder about my dreams and to think how they changed over time. Now I think I need to consider my priorities and what I want to achieve in the rest of my life.

I find it good to stand back and reflect on my life, otherwise I get too involved in the rat race and don't appreciate the full picture.

Yes it is good to see the past and readjust the track to own goal.
