Finding Your Way Home!😊
Many old camping and weather saying are based on facts, and can help you stay safe …….and dry, during your outdoor adventures in the Mountains!😇
If you get hopelessly lost………………….
Find the nearest creek, and follow it downhill! This is one of the best ways to find civilization!
Can you tell if it will rain soon?
Just look at the smoke in the fourth to last photo. See how the smoke is rising straight up…….
This indicates good weather ahead!
During periods of low atmospheric pressure ( rain, snow ), the smoke will generally not go straight up, but will go sideways!
Low atmospheric pressure when burning a wood stove in your home can cause down drafts!
Smoke can pour out of a wood stove door that is opened too quickly, filling the room!😳
“When the dew is on the grass, rain will never come to pass!”
I have found this to be one of the best indicators of rain/ or no rain!😇
Of course living close to the Ocean, all bets are off Lol!🙄
Close to the Ocean, you can have beautiful blue skies one day, and the next day you might be thinking about building an Ark!😅😮
Anywhere inland these are very accurate weather indicators!😊
Today my neighbor Kurt was building the bonfire you see in my post.
As Liz and Silvertop drove to town, you could see the clouds piling up!🙄
“Kurt’s bonfire smoke is going straight up Liz!”😇
“ Silvertop…….maybe we should enjoy the Sunshine today, and think about building that Ark Lol! “🥰
Hmmm…………….🤔
Till tomorrow Silvertop Mike 😊

Very cool cloud patterns ☺️ in the fall, because the big difference in temperatures between night and day we have very wet mornings because of the dew but good weather in the day, but not always 😅
We have a saying that goes like 'nothing changes like the weather' well, maybe that - and women 🤣
Awesome saying my friend, that can be so very true!😇😊
Gorgeous photos! There was one phrase my grandfather would say about the color of the sunset in relation to the following days weather but I forget it now
Ahhh……..
“ red sky at night sailors, delight, red sky, in morning sailors take warning” 👍😊
