Today I repeated the practice of my morning walk to start my day with nature again. And of course I changed my itinerary, since nothing can be repeated or stable from day to day. Dopamine, among other things.
I recently watched some videos of people practicing for days without sight or hearing. After this practice is over, people naturally weep as they regain one of the feelings that was given to them by birthright. It is enough to be deprived of something to understand more than we have in a lifetime of unawareness.
We take a lot for granted. This is a mistake.
Now I understand why I have such vivid memories from my own ten-day hunger strike. When I got my tastes back, my taste buds absorbed every nuance of the foods I ate. Each sampling of a new variety of apple was like a gourmet feast. It didn't matter the quantity. Sparks flew from my eyes from the quality. And yes, I could smell the stale fruits and vegetables...
There is euphoria in every day and in every object.
It's just that we've rushed to over-saturate ourselves and everything around us...
Content has really ceased to be lasting. Feelings have ceased to be vivid. Words are no longer refined. Time spent with AI exceeds time spent with loved ones at times.
Today I was terrified of the excitement and smile of one of the AI developers who is capable of making an empathic and loving bot for people and the world. His eyes sparkled like an addict's. My eyes searched him for mental illness...
If this is our future, I'm scared.
And I'm not scared for AI, there's nothing wrong with him. I'm scared for us.
We don't seem to have been okay for a long time...
