The Wall Anniversary- My Actifit Report Card: December 8 2022

in Actifit2 years ago

On 8 December 1979, Pink Floyd's album "The Wall" is released in the United States. It is the best-selling double album in the history of music with more than 30 million units sold and is considered a rock masterpiece.

It is a concept album in which all the songs are intertwined with each other telling a common story. Based on an unpleasant personal experience during a concert, Roger Waters wrote practically all the songs in which he develops the story of Pink, a great rock star who has built an imaginary wall as a barrier between himself and the society he has had to live in, a wall in which each brick represents an experience in his dramatic life, from the death of his father in the war, the problems with his overprotective mother, the severe education he received at school, his sentimental problems and his drug addictions.

The relationship between Roger Waters and the other musicians was very bad, so the tracks were recorded separately without ever playing together in the studio. Years later, after disagreements with the other members, Roger Waters left the band and handed over the rights to his bandmates after a long legal process. However, he kept the rights to exploit "The Wall", including the visual show that accompanied his concerts. Since then, Roger Waters has devoted himself mainly to concert tours with this magnificent album at the core.
