Metamorphoses Aniversary - My Actifit Report Card: January 24 2023

in Actifit2 years ago

On January 24, 2000, Jean Michel Jarre's Metamorphoses was released. It is his eleventh studio album and as the title reflects, it is intended to be a transformation in his musical style.

Although it is still an album of electronic music, it also includes a mixture of styles with a great variety of melodies and sound effects different from the artist's previous works. It also features the collaboration of other musicians and includes vocal songs closer to pop and rock. Metamorphoses intends to be more commercial and less experimental.

The critique received was quite good in general, highlighting on the one hand the impeccable production, and on the other hand the ability of Jean Michel Jarre to create a sufficiently good and coherent album given the difficulty of combining different musical styles and include other artists.

Without reaching the level of other previous works, Metamorphoses is Jean Michel Jarre's last great work, since from here his musical quality declined considerably.

Some of the themes of Metamorphoses were presented live by the French artist in the mythical concert that took place on December 31, 1999 in the Pyramids of Egypt.
