Indeed, it is necessary, especially considering that the soil dries out extremely quickly because of the porous lava below, so if we don't get rain for a few days, the plants are not happy! Thanks much, Barb! I always have a blanket if it gets too chilly! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I bet the porous lava may have some advantages? I am not sure @tydynrain I will look it up. I'm so glad you have a blanket! 🌟🙏😊💚🌴🌅🌴🌄 !BBH !CTP Ah, yes, I did find advantages @tydynrain planting in porous lava.
It días, yes, though because this part of Hawai'i is so new, most of the minerals important for life, especially those needed for the formation and maintenance of health bones and teeth, are still locked up in the lava. One other not-so-great thing is that, with the huge amount of rain, and the super-porous lava below, lots of nutrients and minerals are carried down into the lava by the rain.
That's great! Yes, when lava breaks down a bit more, it is a bit more suitable and amiable to more plants. Thankie muchly! I'm grateful for my blanket too! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
OK, @tydynrain. Yes, I understand that about the porous lava dirt and the rain washing all the nutrients down further. Take care and stay warm! 🤗🌞 🌟🙏😊🌴🌅🌴🌄 !BBH !CTP
Hehe...cool! Thanks much, Barb! I shall endeavor to do so! You too! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
