RE: Making Homemade Hummus with Expiring Vegetables

in Actifitlast year

Homemade hummus is better that store bought.

I usually squeeze in a whole lemon with the lemon zest. I found a place that sells bulk sesame seeds; so I roast them myself.

I found that I can get a decent texture with a standard potato masher; so one doesn't need the blender.

Of course one needs to pair the mix with a fine wine

Oh but you still need a blender / mixer for the roasted sesame to make tahini right? I had trouble making it fine without a good blender that's why I just made it store bought for quick fix.

Oh never thought about adding lemon zest. I should look into that. Thanks so much for the suggestion!

I forgot about that.

I smash the sesame seeds with a mortar and pestal. It is not quite as smooth as machine ground tahini, but is easier to clean.
