A Day of Faith
Holy Week is just around the corner and in most Venezuelan cities the Catholic Church is preparing for what is one of the most important moments of the liturgical calendar. In my city this is an event that is lived in a very intense way, since the people harbor in their hearts a very deep faith, but the truth is that in the big cities things are quite different, here freedom of thought and worship is more widely appreciated, but fortunately Venezuelan society is very tolerant and respectful, allowing everyone to go ahead according to their own beliefs and customs.
Un Día de Fe
Ya falta poco para que llegue la Semana Santa y en la mayoría de las ciudades venezolanas la Iglesia Católica se prepara para lo que es uno de los momentos más importantes del calendario litúrgico. En mi ciudad Este es un evento que se vive de forma muy intensa, puesto que el pueblo alberga en su corazón una fe muy profunda, pero la verdad es que en las grandes ciudades las cosas son bastante diferentes, aquí la libertad de pensamiento y de culto Se aprecia de manera más amplia, pero afortunadamente la sociedad venezolana es muy tolerante y respetuosa, permitiendo que cada quien siga adelante según sus propias creencias y costumbres.
Today, while walking through the center of Caracas, theory of churches open to the public, this, being a historic place, houses a significant number of temples, which vary in size, style and design, but generally share the same message of faith, reconciliation and repentance. Today's errands led me to walk a little north. It is there that I discovered a church that was new to me, which stands out for its large dimensions, the sturdiness of its walls and, in general terms, the impotence of its architecture.
Hoy, mientras caminaba por el centro de Caracas, teoría de las iglesias abiertas al público, este, por ser un lugar histórico, alberga una importante cantidad de templos, los cuales varían en tamaño, estilo y diseño, pero en general comparten un mismo mensaje de fe, reconciliación y arrepentimiento. Las diligencias realizadas el día de hoy me llevaron a caminar un poco hacia el norte. Es allí cuando descubrí una iglesia que para mí era nueva, la cual destaca por sus grandes dimensiones, la robustez de sus muros y, en términos generales, la impotencia de su arquitectura.
It is the church of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes, a very large space where we can walk with total tranquility, its stone walls, large walls and wide naves allow us to immerse ourselves in a silent world, somewhat cold and a little dark, where the images of various saints recall the convulsive and strong past of a church that went through many situations to maintain its validity and faith.
Se trata de la iglesia Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes, un espacio muy amplio, en donde podemos caminar con total tranquilidad, sus paredes de piedra, grandes muros y amplias naves nos permiten sumergirnos dentro de un mundo silencioso, algo frío y un tanto oscuro, en donde las imágenes de diversos santos rememoran ese pasado convulso y fuerte de una iglesia que atravesó por muchas situaciones para lograr mantener su vigencia y su fe.
Without realizing it I had deviated from my original route, a little more and I'm even late, but fortunately everything could flow in the best way, I managed to discover a new space within the city and at the same time I could do all the scheduled errands, apart from all this the step counter was generous with me and when I returned home I realized that my daily goal had been completed.
Sin darme cuenta me había desviado de mi ruta original, un poco más y hasta se me hace tarde, Pero afortunadamente todo pudo fluir de la mejor manera, logré descubrir un nuevo espacio dentro de la ciudad y al mismo tiempo pude realizar todas las diligencias pautadas, aparte de todo esto el contador de pasos fue generoso conmigo y al regresar a casa me di cuenta de que mi objetivo diario había sido completada.
