Hello all beautiful Hiver and Bonsai enthusiasts.
Spring is just around the corner so i went to check my pre-bonsai garden, im going to give you quick update whats going on and what is the plan.
I'm quickly approaching repotting season, next couple of weeks will be very busy in my Bonsai world.
Here is the current state of some of my pre-bonsai trees..
Some of them were planted there about 3 years ago, some 2 or a year...They are all in different growing stages.
Some of the trees were planted on the tiles to encourage roots grown in all directions apart of going down :) I will talk about the tile technic when working on the individual trees.
So here it is how it looks now.....
Here on far right is Sugar Maple that is ground groing for last 3 years, this is 4th spring in the ground now.
Also you can see some young Oaks and Elm at the back...
This is my Gingko Biloba and also small Gingko cutting that i managed to root - they are here more for fun as i dont think i will be able to make them Bonsai in my life time....they are super slow growing trees.
Some random Maple that grew itself here - i believe its one of my seeds that i planted years ago but i wouldn't remember which maple it was, also a bit of my Serbian Spruce.
This is Red Oak i believe - about 3 years in the ground, from pencil size....
Another random Maple i planted.....and Crabb Apple at the back...
Crabb Apple itself..
And Purple Beech here....about 3 years also - this one is growing very slow....
Serbian Spruce...
Prunus Nigra - 3 years in the ground from pencil size....quicte a good going
And this is Hazel - dont remember exact name....
So as you can see some of them needs to be dig out frm the ground and put into training/bonsai pots, so here is a plan for next couple of weeks
- Sugar Maple is in my opinion ready to be transferred to the pot, it will be trimmed back and of course i will work on the roots
- I think i will dig out both maples but not sure yet, maybe will just trim the,m and leave there for another year to thicken up a bit more...
- I think its time for Crabb Apple to get its own pot....
- Prunus Nigra is already throwing buds out so it will be first to go, looks very promising and im happy with the trunk size.
- The last one im going to work on its Hazel, the trunk is descent size, however its a bit one sized tree only, so im going to make 2 trees out of that one, im going to air layer it after the first branch - circled in red, so it will come up from the ground(will
ve to think about it) but will be split into 2 trees probably during the summer or maybe next spring we will see how it goes...
So thats my plan for this year my pre-bonsai garden.
Please let me know what do you think and im more than happy to hear your opinion.
Until next time.
