3 Female Millennial Songs

in Music3 days ago

The millennial era was truly a time to be alive. From the years of 1981 to 1996, we were blessed with an abundance of not only artists, but of new and emerging musical genres as well. Eurodance, ska punk, and various techno beats were being produced in style -- and we were loving it!

From the club to our bedrooms, we were always listening; music was our lives!

Anyway, I don't know how to properly explain this phenomena, but have you ever heard of the theory that doorways are metaphorical gateways into another universe? and this is why you tend to forget why you just walked into the room?? Well, mine is the bathroom! 😄🚻 Anytime that I go into the bathroom, I immediately recall songs that I otherwise would not remember if I weren't in the bathroom! Here are just a few of those songs...

The first is Squeeze Toy by The Boomtang Boys. You may be unfamiliar with this song unless you are Canadian! 🇨🇦 This was basically our Canadian version of The Thong Song, where the lyrics were quite obviously about something else, but you were too young to know what 😳 Like, this song was really messed up; it basically describes a girl's graduation from playing with toys, to playing with boys! 🙊 Of course, women still play with 😏 toys 😏, in both senses of the word, so this song is a lie!

(Let's take a moment to appreciate the early days of animation 😂)

The next song is from Aqua. Of course, everybody knows Aqua -- they blessed us with their one-hit wonder Barbie Girl back in 1997! 🤪 Well, as a child, I was born right on time for the release of Aqua's first album, and my sister and I used to spend hours listening to the tracks on this CD. Surprisingly enough, Barbie Girl has never been my go-to. I prefer the songs Doctor Jones and Candyman.

(Let's take another moment to appreciate the HAIR and outfits from the 90s! 😄)

The last song should be a bit more familiar, for it is sung by the beautiful and talented Jennifer Lopez. That's right -- it's Jenny From The Block! 😄 Do not ask why this song, but every time that I enter the bathroom, the chorus starts playing in my head. Anyway, this was quite the controversial video when it first came out -- Ben Affleck slapped Jennifer's butt!! 😱 You gotta remember, this was released during the same period as the Janet Jackson nipple slip, it was very newsworthy!

Anyway, that will do it for my post today! 😀 I hope you enjoyed this playlist, hopefully it brought back some wonderful memories. Thank you for reading, and happy holidays! 👋🎄

Some throw backs! Love seeing those!

I'm glad you enjoyed 😄 and good hearing from you, hopefully you're prepared for the holiday season?! 🙏

Bathroom, haha.
I remember we Always joke with people having a bathroom voice. It's really true, a lot of musical inspirations come up in the bathroom

The acoustics in the bathroom are amazing! 😄

But you are right, a lot of people tend to find their voice in the bathroom. I haven't sung very often due to current living situation but need to get back into it! Thank you for your comment 🙏
