My Top 10 Metal Releases of 2022

in Music2 years ago (edited)

Hey people,

As we move in to December, it's time for one of my favourite activities of the year...time for my top 10 releases of the year! This is something I have been doing for around the last 6 years however, this is the first time that I'll be posting it to Hive.

Remember, this is my own opinion of the new music that I have consumed in the last year. If you feel like I've missed something, feel free to let me know in the comments. This is just something I do for fun and to try to ensure that talented artists get heard by others, so with that spirit in mind, I'll make sure I check out all of your recommendations.

You've heard exercise fanatics and gym-goers talking about arm day or leg day...well in my house it's always NECK DAY! 😁

3. Baest - Justitia E.P

2. Rammstein - Zeit (Time)

Source
Listen to: 'Angst', 'Giftig' and 'Dicke Titten'.

Just a note to those that have got this far; this list has taken me a lot longer than I'd care to admit (as it always does), involved lots of head scratching and re-listening to a lot of the stuff that came out earlier in the year. These records are all absolutely fantastic and deserve to be listened to however, one release has been a clear favourite for the entire year and has had countless listens. This brings us to my favourite release for 2022 (drumroll please)...

1. Ghost - Impera

Source
Listen to: 'Spillways', 'Watcher In The Skies' and 'Call Me Little Sunshine'. (but seriously, listen to it all as every track on this album is unique and incredible!) 😁

This year Ghost continue on their mission to infiltrate the mainstream music industry with their tongue-in-cheek satanism, with their ever-evolving, charismatic frontman Papa Emeritus IV leading the charge! This release sees the band celebrating various era's/styles of music including influences such as, AC/DC, 20's swing, 80's power metal and even their home nations most successful export...ABBA!

That's all for this year's review. Thanks for stopping by and make sure to give me your recommendations in the comment section. I look forward to talking to you all.
