Three Tune Tuesday: Winter in the North

in Musiclast year

Hey people!

I've always been a big believer that metal sounds better during winter. Something about the abrasive sound of my favourite genre always fits really well with the cold, dark and unforgiving winter months.

Here is my #threetunetuesday selections to help us all face the frost, wind and rain. Get out there and kick winters ass!

1. Aeternus - Boudica
Album - Heathen

Aeternus are blackened death metal band hailing from Bergen, Norway. The band were formed in 1993 during the emergence of the 2nd wave of Norwegian black metal that largely sprouted from their home city. 'Boudica' explores the story of the ancient Briton warrior queen of the Iceni tribe, who rose up against the Roman army that was invading the British Isles.

2. Wytch Hazel - I Am Redeemed
Album - III: Pentecost

Wytch Hazel are a traditional heavy metal band whose image and lyrics heavily centre around the theme of medieval Britain and Christian faith. Personally I would normally avoid bands with a Christian theme, however I simply can't dislike this band. 'I Am Redeemed' is a great example of their work that captures their infectious choruses and melodies present through most of their catalogue.

3. I - Mountains
Album: Between Two Worlds

Lastly, I have my staple track for whenever the temperature drops. 'I' are a black n' roll supergroup formed once again in Bergen and fronted by the legendary former 'Immortal' frontman Abbath. The band Abbath's signature croaky black metal vocals while the rest of the band took a more traditionally influenced metal sound. Today's track 'Mountains' is a celebration of our earth highest peaks and includes an epic souring guitar solo to help the listened to ascend with the band.

Interesting.. can't view the first here will seek it out elsewhere. As for Christian metal not my first choice.. but musically sound I can dig the talent. The last tunes was awesome too.. got the old school appeal.. Nice!

Awesome.. always love new musical experiences, thanks!

That's weird, is it a regional thing? Same here with the Christian metal, found that these guys have a sound that's really grown on me though.

Have a good week dude.

Yeah.. YT loves throwing a monkey wrench into the mix and does the region thing.. major pita!! :D And yet they wanna bombard us with freakin ads all day every day lmao. Cheers!
