It's nice to be back in this small #ThreeTuneTuesday space created by @ablaze, this time to recommend songs by an artist who means a lot to me, Billie Eilish.
I started following Billie when I was in high school, and at that time she was the "hot topic" of the moment with her song Bad Guy. The character she represented in that era is very distant from who she is today, and it was magical for me to grow up while her music evolved to give way to more intimate and sincere concerns.
So today I'll be recommending you some sad songs by Billie Eilish, but for me they are little gems.
Let's start with When the party's over. This song is well recognized for its music video, in which the singer explodes into black tears, literally. Here he uses a minimalist and highly impactful visual narrative, but let's talk about the musical product. From the beginning there is the naked voice, slightly accompanied by several layers built with chords that she recorded herself. The sincerity that is in these lyrics allows us a closer approach to the singer, to the point of making us shudder. As soon as I heard this song I knew it would be on my playlist for a long time, and I was not wrong.
Now it's time for the greatest. This is already the most mature stage of Billie that we have seen to date. He takes on his insecurities and applauds them without self-consciousness. We can even hear how he releases his voice with a power that we rarely heard before. She does not measure herself when it comes to complaining and showing herself weak, and that's when we notice that something has been changing inside her. This is a magnificent piece of work, without a doubt.
Before moving on to the third song that the dynamics demands, I make this section to talk about other songs. [Your Power] (
) is a topic that talks about the abuse of power and helps to raise awareness about it. We also have the "Guitar Songs", The 30th and TV. For these two it is enough to listen to them to understand the degree of depth they address in the emotions of the artist.And finally, I had to reveal the last song. Male Fantasy became my favorite Billie song from the very moment I heard it (and that hasn't changed to date either). I don't know why it touches me so personally, but this contrast of being in the right to hate someone and still not being able to stop seeking them seems fascinating to me. Here the vibe changes completely, the song revolves around the self that suffers and that loves, and that despite everything tries to move on. For me it is the most significant song on an emotional level of this young artist and I never get tired of listening to it.

A Billie comencé a seguirla cuando estaba en secundaria, y en ese momento ella era el "hot topic" del momento con su tema Bad Guy. El personaje que ella representaba en esa era es muy distante a quien es hoy en día, y para mí fue mágico ir creciendo a la vez que su música evolucionaba para dar paso a inquietudes más íntimas y sinceras.
Así que hoy les estaré recomendando canciones un poco tristes de Billie Eilish, pero que para mí son pequeñas joyas.
Comenzamos con When the party's over. Esta canción es bien reconocida por su video musical, en el que la cantante explota en lágrimas negras, literalmente. Aquí usa una narrativa visual minimalista y altamente impactante, pero hablemos sobre el producto musical. Desde el inicio está la voz desnuda, acompañada levemente por varias capas construidas con acordes que ella misma grabó. La sinceridad que está en estas letras nos permite un acercamiento más próximo a la cantante, al punto de hacernos estremecer. Apenas escuché esta canción supe que estaría en mi playlist por mucho tiempo, y no me equivoqué.
Ahora le corresponde el turno a The greatest. Ya esta es la etapa más madura de Billie que hemos visto hasta la fecha. Asume sus inseguridades y las aclama sin cohibirse. Incluso podemos escuchar como libera su voz con una potencia que pocas veces escuchamos antes. No se mide a la hora de reclamar y mostrarse débil, y es ahí cuando notamos que algo ha ido cambiando dentro de ella. Esta es una obra magnífica, sin lugar a dudas.
Antes de pasar a la tercera canción que exige la dinámica, hago este apartado para hablar de otras canciones. Your Power es un tema que habla sobre el abuso de poder y ayuda a crear conciencia al respecto. También tenemos las "Guitar Songs", The 30th y TV. Para estas dos basta con escucharlas para entender el grado de profundidad que abordan en las emociones de la artista.
Y finalmente, tuve que revelar la última canción. Male Fantasy se convirtió en mi canción favorita de Billie desde el propio momento en que ma escuché (y eso tampoco ha cambiado hasta la fecha). No sé por qué razón me toca de manera tan personal, pero esta contraposición de estar en el derecho de odiar a alguien y aún así no poder dejar de procurarlas me parece algo fascinante. Aquí la vibra cambia por completo, la canción gira en torno al yo que sufre y que ama, y que a pesar de todo trata de seguir adelante. Para mí es la canción más significativa a nivel emotivo de esta joven artista y nunca me canso de escucharla.
