Hello Hivers!
Today I come to share another piece of my authorship belonging to a virtual concert that I did a while ago. The title: Little Danzón.
Danzón is one of the most important genres of cuban popular music and is considered the national dance of Cuba. Its creator was the composer from Matanzas, Miguel Failde, and for more than 100 years its followers have been diverse. Others rythms have been born from this genre that have contributed to the growth of our music, such as the Cha-cha-chá and the Mambo.
Betting on spontaneity, the song begins with a free improvisation from the bass clarinet (an instrument I am in love with because of its serious and warm sound) that precedes the main melody which, after a round of improvisation on the electric bass, gives I switch to the soprano clarinet to achieve two sound approaches to the same melody.
As is typical in the danzón, the coda is a "Montuno". Montuno is, in the Rondo form of the Danzón, the last part of the structure where the tempo of the work tends to speed up to achieve a more "joyful" character. In this case, I used this moment to make an improvisation challenge between the clarinet and the piano where the conflicting ideas achieve a kind of catharsis.
The format I use is the jazz quartet. The possibilities that this genre offers us (jazz) when mixed with others are endless; no matter what their origins are.
It is precisely because of the mixture of genres such as danzón, son and other Cuban genres with jazz that "Latin Jazz" arises and is inmortalized as a style.

Hoy vengo a compartir otra pieza de mi autoría perteneciente a un concierto virtual que realicé hace un tiempo atrás. El título: Pequeño Danzón.
El Danzón es uno de los géneros más importantes de la música popular cubana y es considerado el baile nacional de Cuba. Su creador fue el compositor matancero Miguel Failde y por más de 100 años diversos han sido sus cultores y de este género han nacido otros que han contribuido al crecimiento de nuestra música como son el Cha-cha-chá y el Mambo.
Apostando a la espontaneidad, el tema comienza con una improvisación libre desde el clarinete bajo (un instrumento del cual estoy enamorado por su sonido grave y cálido) que precede a la melodía principal la cual, después de una ronda de improvisación del bajo eléctrico, da paso al clarinete soprano para lograr dos enfoques sonoros de una misma melodía.
Cómo es típico en el danzón, la coda es un "Montuno". Montuno es, en la forma Rondó del Danzón, la última parte de la estructura dónde el tempo de la obra tiende a acelerarse para lograr un carácter más "alegre". En este caso, utilicé este momento para hacer un reto de improvisación entre el clarinete y el piano donde las ideas contrapuestas logran una suerte de catarsis.
El formato que utilizo es el de cuarteto de jazz. Son infinitas las posibilidades que nos brinda este género al mezclarse con otros; no importa cuales sean sus procedencias.
Es precisamente por la mezcla de géneros como el danzón, el son y otros géneros cubanos con el jazz que surge el "Latin Jazz" y se inmortaliza como estilo.
Una vez más tengo el inmenso privilegio de contar con excelentes músicos y amigos a mi lado.
