At the end of last year, a clarinet player I follow on Twitter pointed out that the words "Delta Omicron" produce the anagram "Clarinet Doom". It reminded me of a recording I had made a few months earlier for a @radioliquorice lockdown podcast of Nature Boy (a mysterious and mournful jazz ballad covered by Nat King and Natalie Cole, George Benson, 60s psychedelic band Gandalf and even David Bowie.)
So I suggested to my partner-in-crime at @swing47 that we give it a go at the local open mic. We didn't have much (any!) rehearsal. And there were some, shall we say, opinions, even heckles from the crowd who didn't like the pedal @steevc had on his guitar. I loved it. Maybe it's like Marmite. Maybe you will have other opinions entirely. The clarinet is playing on a synthetic reed and with a massive dose of reverb, because I was trying to make it sound like a rock instrument.
Maybe, just maybe, it is something like Clarinet Doom...? You be the judge!

Danielle said she wanted it distorted, but I didn't have much time to test the sound and we ended up with too much guitar reverb for my tastes. Didn't want to take up too much time fixing that. The joys of live performance with technology.

Yes, they can be surprising those outings.. haha
We'd already used up quite a bit of time trying to get the reverb to come through the mixer...
I could have brought a guitar amp, but that's just more gear to lug around and set up and my pedal ought to replace that via the PA. We are all learning each time we do these things.

I was interested to hear how this turned out. I think the slower half worked better for the guitar. I liked the loose feel to that. I was winging it a bit on the faster one. The guitar was getting the reverb via the PA and it put me off a bit. Music is for a the moment and you have to experiment. If people don't like it then it was only a few minutes of their lives and something else will come along.
