Bob Marley: A Life for Music and Freedom
Source wallpapercave.com and changes from @detlev
The first time I heard Bob Marley's music way back in the mid 80ties, I was immediately captivated by the unique sounds of reggae. This genre, which Marley significantly shaped, is a blend of ska, rocksteady, and traditional Jamaican rhythms. Reggae is characterized by its relaxed yet powerful rhythm, often accompanied by profound lyrics. Marley's music was not just entertainment; it was a means to spread social and political messages. His songs spoke of freedom, justice, and love, inspiring people worldwide.
We where dancing a lot to this music and it rhytms at the former "temples" of reggae music in Germany.

His life
Bob Marley was born on February 6, 1945, in Nine Mile, a small village in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica. Jamaica, a country with a rich cultural history and a deep connection to music, was the perfect breeding ground for Marley's talents. Despite his humble beginnings and the challenges of growing up in poverty, Marley found a way to raise his voice and change the world through music.

Bob's international successes are impressive. With his band, The Wailers, he brought reggae music to the global stage. Albums like "Catch a Fire" and "Burnin'" made him famous worldwide. His song "No Woman, No Cry" became an international hit and marked his breakthrough outside Jamaica. Marley's music spoke a universal language that transcended cultural and geographical boundaries. He became a symbol of the fight against oppression and for human rights.
Here are my top 5 Bob Marley songs that everyone should know:
1. No Woman, No Cry
2. One Love/People Get Ready
3. Redemption Song
4. Three Little Birds

Agree 👍
Ich lese nur Bob Marley - und schon sehe ich mich wieder in Nine Mile stehen. So wie damals, als ich dort war.
Irie!
Thanks for reminding.
Great music. 👍
One of my favorite musical artists!
Yes, he was different and unique
Oh man, only 80? He seems to have been there always somehow. I used to listen to No Woman No Cry before school when I was like 12-13. I thought man, this dude gets it (dunno what I thought he got, or what I thought I understood, for that matter, but still). 13 years later and I'm still learning new things from his music each time. Good music, huh? Where would we be without it? :)
Irie!
Damn, I need to go to a good reggae gig this year.

must say most fun i had were the reggae gigs :D
Marley songs were probably first where i realized a lot of music i like is because of lyrics.
One of the not so famous songs but it clicked with me from the first time i listened to it. maybe because where i live and the politics in, well kinda my whole life.
He is a legend! His lyrics always put me in a good mood. I think those words will always stay in my mind: don't worry about a thing because every little thing’s going to be alright…this is something that always lifts me up…
