I have been invited by @detlev and @slobberchops to join in the #metalweekend tag
1 - Choose 3 metal bands/artists
2 - Make a post including the #metalweekend tag.
Thats it! Nice and simple... I will add an extra element:
3 - I do like a backstory, so if you want to then feel free to add a little explaining your choice, or what you like about the band/song. But you don't need to if you don't want to.
The main aim is just to share some cool #Metal songs and who knows, you may introduce someone to their new favourite band!
My choices for this week:
1 - Turisas - The Varangian Way
Inspired by Detlev's Post, I picked out the 2nd Album from this Finnish Band who play a fantastic combination of Symphonic Metal and Folk Metal (think Power Metal with added Orchestras, Choirs and traditional folk instruments).
2 - Sepultura -Roots
I know this isn't their 'Best' album (Chaos AD gets that title) but this is my fave of all their releases. I can remember first watching the music video Roots Bloody Roots on MTV2 many years ago and being both shocked and intrigued at the same time!
3 - Andrew WK - I Get Wet
Is this Metal? Possibly not.
Are the lyrics predictable and slightly silly? Yep
Is it fun to listen to?
Hell Yes! Sometimes I want serious and thought provoking music to listen to, and sometimes I just want to Party Hard!
I'm composing my own #alternativeweekend post right now, this will give me something to listen too while I write :)
Roots Bloody Roots sounds interesting, I will look the documentary up. @gooddream also is into this kind of stuff.
Cool, I look forward to seeing what you come up with :-)
I was watching mtv2 when the likes of linkin park and limp bizcuit and alien ant farm were on... Sepultura blew me away with the music video... it was one of the first steps towards exploring the more extreme side of metal
