I have seen a few of these A-Z challenges on the Hive, and though I don't know who started this one, I think its a fantastic idea to be able to share some of the music I love to listen to. I am going to work through the alphabet beginning of course with A. Each post that I do for this challenge I will strive to include 3 Artists: 1 established Metal band, 1 smaller unknown Metal band, and 1 Bonus (this will be an eclectic choice picked from any genre for example from Spice Girls to Johnny Cash and anything in between).
Letter B
Established Metal Band - Black Sabbath
I suspect every rock and metal fan on this planet knows who Black Sabbath are. The Godfathers of Heavy Metal, and arguably the first Metal Band. Their early catalogue is in my opinion, their best work and the second album Paranoid is often cited as one of the most influential album in the development of the entire heavy metal genre. Listening to it now, the intro to War Pigs still sends a chill down my spine...
Underground Metal Band - Belenos
Not so much underground as just not very well known outside their own country of France. Belenos play Pagan Black Metal with hints of Death metal thrown into the mix. To be honest, there is a lot going on, and it borders on the chaotic at times, but if you are a fan of this genre I recommend preserving as it is well worth the effort.
Bonus Artist - Bloodhound Gang
Yeah I know... they are rude and un-pc and use plenty of foul language, but they are damn good fun, and the lyrics are actually a lot more clever and interesting than you might initially realise. And with a mix of dance, pop and alt rock there is plenty of variety on offer.
