Este es mi primer post dentro de la comunidad de música, así que por ser el primero quise hacer de este algo especial y hablar acerca de mi banda favorita, y a su vez dar unas pequeñas recomendaciones basadas en mis canciones favoritas de cada álbum.
This is my first post within the music community, so being the first one I wanted to make this something special and talk about my favorite band, and at the same time give a few recommendations based on my favorite songs from each album.
Como una pequeña introducción a la banda, su nombre es The Neighbourhood, que si bien su ciudad de origen es Newbury Park, California, como indica a su vez una de sus canciones (Ferrari), se tuvo un acuerdo para que el nombre del grupo fuese escrito en su manera inglesa. The Neighbourhood data de un período de actividad desde el año 2011, probablemente puedan tener algún mínimo conocimiento de esta banda, puesto a que una de sus canciones se ha hecho realmente famosa, esta lleva por nombre "Sweater Weather". Las canciones de esta banda tienen géneros como el rock alternativo, rap alternativo, indie pop, indie rock, así como también pop y pop alternativo. Para aquellos a quienes les gusten estos géneros, esta banda podría gustarles.
As a little introduction to the band, their name is The Neighbourhood, and although their hometown is Newbury Park, California, as one of their songs (Ferrari) indicates, they had an agreement that the name of the band would be written in their English way. The Neighbourhood dates from a period of activity since 2011, probably you may have some minimal knowledge of this band, since one of their songs has become really famous, this one is called "Sweater Weather". The songs of this band have genres such as alternative rock, alternative rap, indie pop, indie rock, as well as pop and alternative pop. For those who like these genres, you might like this band.
Por lo que tengo entendido, la mayoría de los miembros se conocen desde hace muchísimo tiempo. La composición de la banda va desde Jesse Rutherford como vocalista, Zach Abels y Jeremy Freedman como guitarristas, Michael Margott en el bajo, y Brandon Fried en la batería. Anteriormente Bryan Sammis era el baterista de la banda, aunque si bien la amistad era bastante grande, a veces se alternaban los puestos en la batería entre Fried y Sammis, hasta que para el año 2014 Brandon Sammis decidió dejar oficialmente a la banda, dejando a Fried como único baterista del grupo.
From what I understand, most of the members have known each other for a very long time. The band's lineup ranges from Jesse Rutherford on vocals, Zach Abels and Jeremy Freedman on guitar, Michael Margott on bass, and Brandon Fried on drums. Previously Bryan Sammis was the band's drummer, although while the friendship was quite strong, they sometimes alternated drumming positions between Fried and Sammis, until 2014 when Brandon Sammis decided to officially leave the band, leaving Fried as the group's sole drummer.
Y sin más que agregar, empecemos con el objetivo de esta publicación.
And without further ado, let's get started with the purpose of this post.
MY FAVORITE THE NEIGHBOURHOOD'S SONGS.
Although "I'm sorry..." is not an album as such, but an extended play (EP), I wanted to add it to this compilation, since one of my favorite songs belongs to this little album. It is called 'Wires'. The song under my perspective of the meaning of the song, I feel that they speak from two perspectives, or in itself, it tells the story of how two individuals hoped to achieve some success, perhaps in music. One of these succeeded, while the other was consumed by despair at not having succeeded, leading himself to consume illicit substances that have contributed to the various hallucinations that he presents, as the song continues you can find verses in which the singer, tells how the other individual has warned him about the industry and how he should be careful. While the one who was successful begins to experience his leap to fame, the other practically indicates that this could be a short time fame and not to get excited. In the song probably, between the final verses, the reference to ghosts, refers to his "friend", and how he doesn't want him to come back into his life because of his mental state.
En el álbum de "I love you" se encuentran canciones increíbles, de hecho, su sencillo más famoso titulado "Sweater Weather" forma parte de este álbum lanzado en 2013, aunque tanto esa canción como "Female Robbery" tuvieron presencia como singles en el 2012. Mi canción favorita de este álbum lleva por nombre "Afraid". En lo personal, me siento realmente identificada con esta canción. Básicamente trata en el miedo al que se enfrenta un individuo día a día debido a la ansiedad, así como también el día en donde se despierte y deba empezar a vivir sin pensamientos ansioso que le detengan. En cómo se siente demasiado débil pra mostrarse como es realmente su verdadero ser. A su vez se relatan los múltiples pensamientos y escenarios que reflejan su depresión y ansiedad a través de otra persona, siendo este espectador de la misma. Creo que se basa en cómo el individuo, tal y como dice la canción, teme a que cuando despierte, otra persona ocupe su lugar, teniendo miedo de que alguien más quede como su persona, lidiando con la misma clase de problemas.
In the album of "I love you" you can find amazing songs, in fact, their most famous single titled "Sweater Weather" is part of this album released in 2013, although both that song and "Female Robbery" had presence as singles in 2012. My favorite song from this album is called "Afraid". Personally, I really identify with this song. It basically deals with the fear that an individual faces day to day due to anxiety, as well as the day where they wake up and have to start living without anxious thoughts holding them back. How he feels too weak to show his true self. At the same time the multiple thoughts and scenarios that reflect his depression and anxiety are told through another person, being this person a spectator of it. I think it is based on how the individual, as the song says, fears that when he wakes up, someone else will take his place, being afraid that someone else will be left as his person, dealing with the same kind of problems.
#000000 & #FFFFFF, un álbum más explícito que el resto de los que se hayan hecho con anterioridad, además de tener múltiples colaboraciones con artistas como OG Maco, Raury, Skeme y Kossisko. De este álbum no me considero tan fan, pero aún así no puedo negar que sea muy bueno. Mi canción favorita de este se llama "Silver", y realmente no hallo un significado conciso a esta canción puesto a que solo tiene 4 versos, pero hasta esos 4 versos son geniales, al igual que el ritmo, me gustan mucho y es por ello que es mi canción favorita de este álbum.
#000000 & #FFFFFFFF, a more explicit album than the rest of the ones that have been made before, besides having multiple collaborations with artists like OG Maco, Raury, Skeme and Kossisko. Of this album I don't consider myself as much of a fan, but I still can't deny that it's very good. My favorite song from this one is called "Silver", and I don't really find a concise meaning to this song since it only has 4 verses, but even those 4 verses are great, as well as the beat, I really like it and that's why it's my favorite song from this album.
Wiped Out!, mi álbum favorito de The Neighbourhood, todas sus canciones son obras maestras, tanto en letra como en melodía, mezclando distintos géneros musicales y convirtiéndolos en una creación increíble, con letras profundas y significativas, simplemente arte. Sí tengo distintas canciones favoritas en este álbum, tanto Prey, como Ferrari son dos de mis favoritas. Pero como principal encuentro una con el mismo nombre que el álbum. Wiped Out!, una canción que trata acerca de cómo se vive padeciendo de trastornos mentales y sumándole a eso adicción a las drogas, donde se habla acerca de las distintas sensaciones que el individuo siente, la pesadez de la depresión, y lo afectado que se encuentra, así como la esperanza de que todo lo que se sienta sea solo una fase y en algún momento termine, así como la necesidad de tener un soporte emocional durante esa dura jornada. El cómo el problema mental es simbolizado por los sonidos de distorsión, dando a entender lo problemático que es mantener pensamientos correctos durante su situación. Realmente amo esta canción.
Wiped Out!, my favorite album by The Neighbourhood, all their songs are masterpieces, both in lyrics and melody, mixing different musical genres and turning them into an incredible creation, with deep and meaningful lyrics, simply art. I do have different favorite songs on this album, both Prey and Ferrari are two of my favorites. But as a main one I find one with the same name as the album. Wiped Out! is a song about living with mental disorders and drug addiction, where they talk about the different sensations that the individual feels, the heaviness of depression, and how affected they are, as well as the hope that everything they feel is just a phase and at some point it will end, as well as the need to have an emotional support during that hard journey. How the mental trouble is symbolized by the distortion sounds, hinting at how problematic it is to keep right thoughts during his situation. I really love this song.
El álbum llamado así mismo como el nombre de la banda. En este también tengo múltiples canciones favoritas, realmente es difícil para mí decidir entre cuál de ellas me gusta más, por lo que tuve que sortear cada una de ellas para ver de cuál tendría que hablar específicamente. "Void" es la canción elegida, esta en particular su significado puede ser confundido con respecto al sentimiento de estar enamorado. Pero en realidad esta canción habla acerca de la adicción hacia a las drogas, en la manera en la que su madre le advirtió sobre estas mismas y que ahora se convirtió en su padre debido a su adicción. En la canción se entienden estrofas como "Solo te toqué una vez" pudiendo hacer referencia al uso de alguna droga por primera vez, y donde ahora necesita de las mismas para llenar su vacío. Un ritmo increíble, una letra profunda y realista.
The album named after the name of the band. In this one I also have multiple favorite songs, it's really hard for me to decide between which one I like the most, so I had to sort through each of them to see which one I would have to talk about specifically. "Void" is the song of choice, this one in particular its meaning can be confused about the feeling of being in love. But in reality this song talks about the addiction towards drugs, in the way that his mother warned him about drugs and that he now became his father because of his addiction. In the song verses like "I only touched you once" can refer to using drugs for the first time, and now he needs them to fill his emptiness. Incredible rhythm, deep and realistic lyrics.
Un nombre muy largo ¿No creen?. Es básicamente la conjunción entre el álbum "The Neighbourhood" y las canciones de los EP's "Hard", "To imagine" y "Ever Changing". Aquí el problema realmente se me complica al escoger una sola canción favorita entre tantas. Los tres EP's me han gustado demasiado, amo mucho "Paradise", "Heaven", "Beautiful Oblivion" y "24/7". Si es de escoger una de todo este álbum, lo haré por significado. Es otra de las canciones más famosas de esta banda, se titula "Compass". Trata acerca de tener a alguien especial en tu vida en los momentos en los que te sientes perdido y desorientado hasta de tu propia persona. El cómo ese alguien te ayuda a orientarte y en el gran impacto que mantiene en tu vida. Así como el hecho de sentirse en estado de soledad si no está consigo, y cómo la atención y todo el soporte emocional de esa persona ayuda a mantener una mejor orientación, tal y como una brújula.
A very long name, don't you think? It's basically the conjunction between the album "The Neighbourhood" and the songs from the EP's "Hard", "To imagine" and "Ever Changing". Here the problem really gets complicated for me to choose a single favorite song among so many. I liked the three EP's too much, I love "Paradise", "Heaven", "Beautiful Oblivion" and "24/7". If it's to pick one from this whole album, I'll do it for significance. It's another of this band's most famous songs, it's titled "Compass". It's about having someone special in your life at times when you feel lost and disoriented even from yourself. How that someone helps guide you and the great impact they have on your life. As well as the fact of feeling in a state of loneliness if they are not with you, and how the attention and all the emotional support of that person helps you to maintain a better orientation, just like a compass.
La era de Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones. Creando álter egos, personajes para contar la historia de todos aquellos personales y de aspecto artístico por los que pasaban. Siendo Chip Chrome el personaje principal de toda la historia en este álbum, teniendo consigo a los Mono-Tones, que si bien tengo entendido, estos harían de las voces en la cabeza de Chip Chrome, un álbum con un enfoque y una estética muy diferentes a sus anteriores creaciones. Mi canción favorita de este álbum también es difícil de elegir puesto a que varias me gustan mucho, sin embargo creo que sería "Silver Lining". El mismo Jesse, comentó que esa canción es la que más definiría a este álbum y al concepto completo del mismo. Siendo la última canción en ser escrita pero la más importante para la historia. En donde la referencia de encontrar aquel rayo de luz, habla de la reflección propia hacia Jesse y el cómo llegó para expresar que Chip Chrome es más que solo un nombre artístico que de representación a la historia del álbum. Es más bien una autoexpresión artística por parte de Jesse, mostrando su verdadera cara artística.
The era of Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones. Creating alter egos, characters to tell the story of all those personal and artistic aspects they went through. Chip Chrome being the main character of the whole story in this album, having with him the Mono-Tones, that if I understand, these would do the voices in Chip Chrome's head, an album with a very different approach and aesthetics to his previous creations. My favorite song of this album is also difficult to choose since I like several of them, however I think it would be "Silver Lining". Jesse himself, commented that this song is the one that would most define this album and the whole concept of it. Being the last song to be written but the most important for the story. Where the reference to finding that ray of light, speaks of Jesse's own reflection and how he came to express that Chip Chrome is more than just a stage name to represent the story of the album. It is more of an artistic self-expression on Jesse's part, showing his true artistic side.
En esta no hablaré mucho. La versión Deluxe de Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones cuenta con 4 canciones extra. No tengo mucho que agregar respecto a ellas, son simplemente increíbles. Entre estas se encuentran "Stargazing", "Over the Influence", "Here we go again" y "The Shining". Son una total barbaridad, aquí realmente no puedo escoger solo una de las cuatro, realmente creo que son fascinantes cada una por su parte, con ritmos que me encantan y letras realmente grandiosas. Son en verdad otra prueba de la versatilidad como artistas de The Neighbourhood.
I won't say much on this one. The Deluxe version of Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones has 4 bonus tracks. I don't have much to add about them, they are simply amazing. Among these are "Stargazing", "Over the Influence", "Here we go again" and "The Shining". They are a total barbarity, here I really can't pick just one of the four, I really think they are fascinating each in their own part, with rhythms that I love and really great lyrics. They are really another proof of The Neighbourhood's versatility as artists.
