Forty years ago, on January 11, 1985, one of the most emblematic festivals in the history of music began: the first Rock in Rio.

This event took place at the Rock City, a space specifically designed to host it in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The opening day was a true milestone, bringing together a staggering 470,000 people, a record that still lingers in the memory of music lovers.

The day's lineup was packed with big-name Brazilian artists such as Ney Matogrosso, Erasmo Carlos, Baby Consuelo and Pepeu Gomes, who filled the stage with energy and authenticity.

However, the climax of the day came with the performance of international rock giants. Bands such as Whitesnake and Iron Maiden thrilled the audience, but it was Queen who closed the night in an epic way.

Freddie Mercury, with his unmatched charisma and legendary voice, conquered the crowd, leaving an indelible mark on everyone present.

Rock in Rio was not just a music festival; it became a cultural phenomenon that united hundreds of thousands of people around the transformative power of music.

This event marked a before and after in the history of live concerts, setting a new standard for the festival production and experience.

Over time, Rock in Rio has expanded beyond Brazil, taking its spirit to cities such as Lisbon, Madrid and Las Vegas, and establishing itself as a symbol of music globally.

Its legacy lives on, reminding us of music's ability to unite and celebrate life.
