‘Can't Fight This Feeling’ is an iconic REO Speedwagon ballad that reached number one on the US singles chart on 9 March 1985, where it stayed for three weeks.
The song, which became one of the group's most iconic power ballads, was written by Kevin Cronin, who took ten years to complete it and, in the end, was not satisfied with the title.
The lyrics of ‘Can't Fight This Feeling’ are inspired by a past relationship and are about a boy who finally admits his love for someone he has known for a long time.
Cronin explained that the song reflects his struggle to express his feelings, influenced by his upbringing in an Irish Catholic family, where he was taught to hide his emotions.
The song was included on the album ‘Wheels Are Turnin’’, released in November 1984, and became the band's second number one single, after “Keep on Loving You”.
REO Speedwagon performed this ballad at the famous Live Aid concert in 1985, where they faced technical problems in their performance.

REO Speedwagon, formed in 1967, reached its peak of popularity in the 1980s, and although more than 40 years have passed since its release, ‘Can't Fight This Feeling’ remains a timeless classic that resonates with new generations.
