The Eagles are renowned for their harmonious fusion of rock, country and folk music and are one of the most iconic and successful rock bands of all time.
Founded in Los Angeles in 1971, the original line-up included Glenn Frey (vocals and guitar), Don Henley (vocals and drums), Bernie Leadon (guitar, banjo and vocals) and Randy Meisner (bass and vocals).
Throughout their career, the Eagles became a symbol of the Southern California sound, achieving notable commercial success and receiving critical acclaim for their songwriting, musicianship and distinctive harmonies.
The band's breakthrough came in 1972 with the release of their eponymous debut album. With hits such as ‘Take It Easy’ (co-written by Frey and Jackson Browne), ‘Witchy Woman’ and ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’, the album featured the Eagles' signature sound: a blend of rock and country influences, catchy melodies and rich vocal harmonies.
‘Take It Easy’ became the band's first big hit, reaching number 12 on the Billboard charts and establishing the Eagles as a new benchmark in the early 1970s rock scene.

In 1973, they released ‘Desperado’, an album that adopted a more country-rock style. Although not an immediate commercial success, it became a critically acclaimed classic.
The title track, along with ‘Tequila Sunrise’ and ‘Outlaw Man’, helped define the band's American sound, while the development of the Henley/Frey collaboration became a hallmark of their future success.
The Eagles' biggest hit is the song “Hotel California”, released in 1976. This song is synonymous with the band and has been covered by artists such as The Killers, Frank Ocean and The Gipsy Kings.
It was number 1 in the year of its release and won the Grammy Award for recording of the year in 1977. Glenn Frey and Don Felder wrote the lyrics and Don Felder wrote the music.
