Hello everyone! Here are some new music items to show, I usually present metal music, but if it's metal then it has to be just metal and if it's not, then I shouldn't mislead. Always however is metal but like the previous time I also threw something else in the mix, now I'm going to do the same with the difference that it's not going to be just metal.
So, starting with the last music album I received on vinyl, here we have H I M and their album Razorblade Romance. This album was originally released in 1999, it's their second full length album and I got in touch with it through a good friend at that time.
I remember I had listened to a track back then and liked it a lot which immediately drew me in and so I went to buy a cd single at the time which contained three songs from their debut album.
This album has been re-released various times before but I found out about it only last year. By the time I was ready to order it from the store I had seen it, it had been sold out. Then I was looking for it and when I saw a store that was offering it I was quick to order it. After about two to three weeks the store returned the money to me. I wanted that version because of the color of the vinyl, but now that I have it I'm perfectly good with it, the clear vinyl version I got is just fine too.
Next up are Guns N' Roses with their two albums Use Your Illusion I and then Use Your Illusion II again on vinyl records.
About three weeks ago a good friend asked me whether I'd like to go with him to a vinyl bazaar and I thought why not. I wasn't going to buy anything, but I thought to go anyway. When we went in we started browsing some CDs and then the many more vinyl records, new and used that the sellers had available. Starting from the CDs I quickly found a couple that I'd like to own. But we weren't quick to decide so naturally we started browsing the vinyl collections too. Passing from vinyls' stand to different stand I found these two Guns N' Roses albums from the original date they were released. I did want to own those albums but much more preferred to have them in mint condition, even if that meant to make a pass on those. In another stand I discovered the presented ones and immediately thought that that was my chance! Now I happily have them!
Next albums on compact discs, starting from the latest release from the Greek Deviser and their album titled Evil Summons Evil.
Deviser are part of our local black metal scene from the nineties. I got to listen to them from their previous EP released in 2019. They split up anyway in 2011 and in 2017 they reformed by the band’s core members, Matt and Nick. I see that they have returned stronger and more "hungry" to keep the flame alive and really wish them the best.
Continuing with the black - dark arts the next release to present is from the most famous Greek band Rotting Christ. This is - like the sticker is stating - a compilation album. The title of it The Apocryphal Spells.
Besides being a loyal follower of Sakis who's the vocalist, guitarist, lyricist and composer of the band, I also wanted this release because it contains tracks they either have released as bonus tracks from previous albums or in a special exclusive edition, or never released before.
Since it's their turn I'm also going to present a double cassette album of theirs titled Their Greatest Spells.
This was originally released in 2018 by their label in a double cd album, but didn't have it and when I saw that a Greek record label was going to re-release it in 2023 as a double cassette album I immediately knew I had to have this.
Another cassette album I've got to present is from Aeternus and their latest release so far titled Philosopher.
I hadn't listened to them previously but - if I remember correctly - since I've been following their current label I saw through them that they had a new album and decided to give it a listen. So I did and I didn't look back since then. It's a delight to listen to for me.
Moving on, next release comes from Swallow The Sun and their album called Hope.
This album was originally released in 2007. This edition is a re-release and I loved to have it, so I ordered it from the label that re-released it.
Last release for now comes from Pink Floyd and the last release they did release under the Pink Floyd banner with the title The Endless River.
This was released in 2014.
The Endless River is a double-album that comprises mainly instrumental and ambient music composed on material recorded during sessions for the previous Pink Floyd album, The Division Bell (1994).
Keyboardist Richard Wright died of cancer on 15 September 2008. In 2013, Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason decided to revisit the unused Division Bell recordings to make a new album, rerecording parts, adding new ones, and using modern studio technology. Gilmour said: "With Rick gone, and with him the chance of ever doing it again, it feels right that these revisited and reworked tracks should be made available as part of our repertoire."
We've reached the end, thank you for dropping by and in my next post I'll have more material to present!
HIM are great and remind me of watching CKY, Viva La Bam, and Jackass years ago.
My sister is a big fan of theirs, and most of the other bands that would have been played or appeared on those shows. I introduced HIM to my partner and she fell in love with them, more so than me who only knew some of their big songs.
Me, and my partner bought my sister tickets to see CKY for her birthday when they played in Ireland and we all went, it was deadly.
