A rainy Tuesday morning in DD. Although I love sunny days, the cool atmosphere makes me want to stay cozily wrapped in bed. But I'm more excited about finishing the greenhouse, so sorry for that lazy thought.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, the Farmboy and Mr. S were having chismis about some lady they encountered on their trip to the city. Sometimes, I find it funny when men gossip, lol! They did give me an idea for today's three tunes, so I'm thanking them from the bottom of my heart.

Kidding aside, I had been playing music yesterday afternoon while tinkering with things in the backyard, and some of those that I enjoyed were what people in the neighborhood refer to as 'oldies but goodies'. Here are three of them, chosen through the inspiration provided by the two gossiping gentlemen😅
Tune 1: Lady
Released in 1980 by the late Kenny Rogers, the song's lyrics were by Lionel Richie. Accordingly, Kenny reached out to Lionel to write a song for him, to which the latter declined at first, saying he had no time. He changed his mind after Kenny mentioned it will be a part of a greatest hits album that may sell about 5 or 6 million copies.
Well, the single did become number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and one of Kenny's iconic songs.
Some fun facts about the single:
- The original title was Baby.
- Kenny was talking about marrying his fourth wife, saying to Lionel, "Before you do your song, let me tell you, I married a lady, like a real lady. A country boy like me from Houston, Texas, what I am doing with a lady? She’s got such taste, such class, such style, and she’s such a lady. Oh, by the way, what’s the name of your song?", to which Lionel replied, "Lady"
- Lionel wrote the second verse while in the bathroom.
Tune 2: Three Times A Lady
A beautiful song! The lyrics were also written by Lionel (then lead singer of the Motown group, Commodores). He wrote the waltz thinking Frank Sinatra would perform it because he did not believe it was fit for the Commodores' music style. In the end, they produced and released it themselves in 1978. It became their first number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
Accordingly, Lionel dedicated it to his wife, Brenda, after being inspired by a toast made by his father to his mother on their 37th wedding anniversary. What a sweet way to honor one's beloved!
Tune 3: Lady in Red
A syrupy ballad by British-Irish singer-songwriter Chris de Burgh, released in 1986 as part of the album Into the Light. It peaked at number 3 on the US Billboard, becoming his best-selling single and signature song. It introduced him to the mainstream audience worldwide.
Accordingly, the song was inspired by the memory of when he first saw his wife, Diane (who used to come and watch him perform at his parents' hotel), and how men often cannot remember what their wives were wearing when they first met.(src)
Interestingly, the song was voted the 10th most annoying song of all time in a poll by Dotmusic in 2000; the 3rd worst song in 1980 by Rolling Stone readers; 6th worst love song of all time by Gigwise; and the 4th most hated UK-number one single in a 2001 poll by the Channel 4 and readers of The Observer.(src)
Well, people have different opinions and preferences, but I think it is a wonderful song, perfect for a sweet dance.
And there ends the day's edition for the TTT initiative by Ablaze. Here's to a fantastic Tuesday!

I really liked this one. The songs are so nice, especially Lady in Red. I think it's very cool the way music can remind us of special moments. Do you have any more favorite old songs though, I like classics a lot
That's good to know. There are a lot of classics out there, and Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie are just some of those I check whenever I'm in the mood to listen to some.
